We lost a friend this week.
Biscuit was Dad’s horse, but he was truly a friend to all who knew him. He spent 10 years on the Diamond J and he packed those ten years full blessing so many people. He not only was one man’s trusty bridle horse for every day work, but also filled in every gap possible for our entire family and beyond. I personally used him time and time again when I was horse poor or needed a trusty mount whether it was for branding or competition. He made many miles under my kids, he moonlighted as an amazing lesson horse for a few seasons, and packed around many other grandkids, nieces/nephews and green riders. He was the horse everyone could ride and truly the most important and valued horse on the ranch. He did all kinds of things most ranch horses would never have to do, with a smile on his face and a willing spirit. He even made a trip to Arizona and entered peewee barrel races, rode the wash and saw the cactus. He truly did and saw a lot in his time with us. We loved him even if he did drive us crazy with untying himself, chewing everything in sight and the occasional head wag. His lope was the most unorthodox thing going but his back was strong enough to carry us through some tough and heavy times too. It’s sometimes hard to remember and accept that you don’t get to keep them forever. All we can do is enjoy the time we do have and be thankful for the blessing of that. We know the Lord holds all things and will provide for our needs so we will trust even when it hurts. So thank you Biscuit, for being such a good boy and touching us all. You will be missed and not easily replaced. Love ya buddy ❤️
