Behaviour-first dog training that works in real life. Stay & Train • Online Training • Owner Education • Lifetime Support. Real Training. Real Support.

Helping dogs become calmer, more confident & reliable since 2013. Real Results. Debbi McArthur is the owner/operator of Prairieburn K9 Academy and she always knew she wanted to be a dog trainer since her first dog “Scamper” a Lhasa Apso/Basset Hound cross at the young age of 12. With the support of the Portage Kennel Club Debbi was one of the youngest members to achieve all levels of obedience and agility with Scamper. She had the opportunity to travel Santa Clarita, California at the Dog Psychology Center to work with Cesar Millan and attend his Training Cesar’s Way Workshop which strengthened her passion to help families and dogs live a more calm and respectful life together. This is where Debbi first met Heather Beck from K9 Lifeline who is a trainer at the Training Cesar’s Way Workshop. Debbi also attended K9 Lifeline’s 3D (Dealing With Difficult Dogs) workshop with Heather Beck and also received her e-touch (e-collar) certification through K9 Lifeline in Draper, Utah. Travelling to Ohio she attended TrainSmart WorkSmart Workshop at K9 Ponderosa where she worked with Heather Beck, George Cockrell and Scottie MacConachie. Debbi has worked with well over 2500 dogs and states the most rewarding part is helping families and dogs and watching the transformation in the calmness and confidence of the dog and owner. It is very

rewarding to know that she has helped strengthen the relationship between Mother Nature and humans. Debbi is a a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, Canadian Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Canadian Kennel Club, Portage Kennel Club, German Shepherd Club of Manitoba, and German Shepherd Club of Canada. She is also the owner/operator of Longburn German Shepherds where she breeds and shows top

quality German Shepherds for conformation and family companions. Check out my website at www.longburngermanshepherds.ca for more information about my pack.

LEARNING NEVER STOPS

One of the most important things dogs have taught me is that you never reach a point where you know everything.

Every dog teaches you something.

That's why continuing education, mentorship and hands-on experience have remained such an important part of my career.

I've also deliberately looked outside the dog-training world for opportunities to learn.

Training with Rick Quinn in a horsemanship clinic—who himself trained with renowned horseman Buck Brannaman—gave me another perspective on pressure, timing, communication, relationship and how many principles of good training transcend species. Also working with Crystal Neudorf at Horses in Motion gave me handson experience with these beautiful animals.

TRUSTED BY PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with the dogs and families of numerous current and former Winnipeg Jets players, including Neal Pionk, Adam Lowry, Kyle Connor, Cole Perfetti, Dylan Samberg, Cole Koepke, Gabriel Vilardi, Nathan Beaulieu and Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Working with professional athletes has been a unique part of my journey, but at Prairieburn, every family receives the same commitment.

Whether I'm working with an NHL player, a first-time dog owner, or a family struggling with challenging behaviour, the goal is always the same:

Understand the dog. Educate the owner. Build a relationship that works in real life.
Because dogs don't care what you do for a living.

They need the same things from all of us — understanding, consistency, structure and a relationship they can trust.

We took our french bulldog, Remi, to Debbi for the 5-day Stay and Train program to work on leash aggression and impulse control.

Remi made great progress in just a few days, especially with her leash walking. Debbi also equipped us with tools to continue her training at home and better manage stressful situations. Her recall, listening, and placement has greatly improved!

What if your dog trainer was still your dog trainer years from now?

That’s one of the biggest differences when you choose Prairieburn.

Your Stay & Train isn't where our relationship ends.

It's where it begins.

Your dog comes to us for professional training — but lasting results require more than sending home a better-behaved dog.

That's why the Prairieburn Difference includes you.

🐾 UNDERSTAND YOUR DOG
You'll learn why your dog behaves the way they do, how your interactions influence that behaviour, and the plan for continuing their training at home.

🐾 HANDLE WITH CONFIDENCE
At your one-on-one Owner Transfer, we put the leash in your hands. You'll work with your own dog and learn how to use the tools (which are included!), reinforce expectations and confidently handle your dog at home.

🐾 LIFETIME SUPPORT
And this might be the most important part.

When your dog goes home, you don't lose your trainer.

Have a question three weeks later? We're here.
Hit a challenge six months from now? We're here.
Need a refresher down the road? We're here.

You have Prairieburn support for the life of your dog.

Because we're not interested in simply getting your dog through a 3, 5 or 7-Day Stay & Train.

We're interested in helping you succeed together long after it's over.

That's what you're investing in when you choose Prairieburn.

Not simply a number of training days.

Experience. Education. Confidence. Results. And someone in your corner for the life of your dog.

WE TRAIN. WE TEACH. WE SUPPORT.

10/10 I would definitely recommend Prairieburn K9 Academy for their Stay and Train program. Before our 4yo girl's training she was anxious and reactive when strangers and certain people would enter the home, camp, and gates.

We tried different training strategies on our own without success. When we dropped off our girl, Debbi was super kind and reassuring, she definitely helped us to feel safe leaving our girl with her. She posted daily video updates and pictures which were so awesome to see.

The improvements we have seen in our girl has been so great. She no longer rushes to the door or gate when people enter. She is now so calm and unbothered in situations that would have previously made her anxious and reactive. We are so so so greatful for Debbi and all of her hard work with our girl ❤️
