I drove past the BIGGEST field of dandelions today while I was out doing Doug’s Kitchen deliveries and immediately thought of our Doug.

That boy was obsessed with dandelions. Obsessed. He’d find a patch, throw himself belly-up in the middle of it, and just lay there tanning his tummy like he paid the bills around here.
And beside this field was a giant mud pit… which honestly would’ve made the experience even more magical for him because nothing made my piggy boy happier than flowers, sunshine, and absolutely wrecking himself in mud.

I could practically see him there. Belly covered in dirt. Tongue out. Looking
ridiculously proud of himself.
I miss him dearly. But moments like this are always such a good reminder of how all of this started and why we believe in it so much.

Mathew stayed playful, happy, adventurous and full of life right until the very end, and that will always mean everything to me. 🤍

This business started because one dog completely changed our lives. We wanted to give him the best quality of life possible, not just more years, but better ones. More energy. More comfort. More tail wags. More adventures. More time feeling like himself.
Since then, we have watched so many other dogs experience those same changes, and we have watched the people who love them feel it too.

Your dog deserves a quality of life that goes deeper than the surface.
To every person supporting us, sharing our name, recommending us, or believing in what we are building, thank you. You are helping a small family business keep growing into something really meaningful, you are helping us build a legacy, for dogs, for their people, for rescues, for other small businesses and for our family and our community.

And if you know someone who may benefit from what we do, please share our page or send them our way. Sometimes the right nutrition and support can truly change a dog’s life. 🤍

Happy Mother’s Day 🥰

Today we’re celebrating a very special kind of love.

The kind that leaves work early because your dog has had a hard day.
The kind that skips the extra shift because it’s been too long since you just laid on the couch together.
The kind who spends their days off making sure their dog has the best day ever — and ends up having the best day too.
The ones who stay in bed just a little bit longer for the morning snuggles, or take the long way home just to give their dog a little extra time in the car.
The kind that wakes up through the night for medications, hand feeds meals when appetites disappear, and memorizes every little habit because you know when something feels “off.”

The kind that would do absolutely anything for the dogs who love us unconditionally.

At Doug’s Kitchen, we see you.

We see the dog moms reading ingredient labels, researching healthier options, asking questions, and choosing better because their dogs deserve the very best life possible.

This business was built from love for one very special boy, and that same love goes into every meal we make today.

Doug made me a mama long before I ever had children of my own. He taught me true patience, unconditional love, whole hearted loyalty, and how deep the bond between a dog and their person can truly be. He stood beside me through every season of life and loved me through becoming a mom of two.

To every dog mom, thank you.
For your softness, your strength, and the love you pour into your dogs every single day.
Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours 🤍

This picture is from the day I brought him home and he became my boy 🧡

FROM OUR FAMILY KITCHEN TO OUR VERY FIRST STOREFRONT 🤍

WE’RE OPENING A DOUG’S KITCHEN LOCATION IN DELTA, ONTARIO!!

📍54 King St, Delta, ON

There were so many moments where this dream felt impossible.
Late nights.
Early mornings.
Cooking batch after batch from our home kitchen while raising our girls, learning as we went, and pouring absolutely everything we had into building something meaningful for dogs and the people who love them.
What started with one deeply loved senior rescue dog named Mathew Douglas has grown into something bigger than we ever imagined.

And now, because of this incredible community, Doug’s Kitchen is officially opening its own location in Delta.
This was never just about pet food to us.
Its about helping dogs live longer, healthier, happier lives.

It’s about giving families options they could truly feel good about feeding.
It’s about creating something rooted in love, transparency, community, and second chances.

We do this for the senior dogs.
For the rescue dogs.
For the picky eaters and sensitive stomachs.
For the adventure buddies.
For the families doing everything they can for the animals they love.
And we do this for every single dog out there whose family knows they need better.

Above all else, we do this for Mathew — the boy who started it all and changed our lives forever.

To every single person who has supported us:
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Every order, every recommendation, every comment, every share, and every kind message helped build this dream beside us.
This is only the beginning.
We have so many exciting things coming, and we cannot wait to share this next chapter with all of you.

More details coming soon… stay tuned!! 🧡
Please share this post and help us reach more dogs and families who may need what we do. 🐶

We’re looking to hire a young local entrepreneur from the Delta area to help with mowing and w**d whacking a small plot (approx. 550 sq ft) once a week.
Timing is flexible—we’re easy to work with and just looking for someone consistent and dependable.
We’d love to give this opportunity to a young entrepreneur, someone who’s just getting started or building their own small business.

Do your magic Facebook, Thank you very kindly in advance! ❤️

Mathew Douglas Griffin 🤍
Doug came into my life eight years ago, and from the very beginning, he became so much more than just a dog. He was my companion, my shadow, my walking partner, my comfort on the hard days, and the quiet joy on the good ones.
He was there through so many seasons of my life — through challenges, growth, change, and some of the best memories I will ever have. In all of it, my boy was steady. Loyal. Loving in the simple, unconditional way only a dog can be.
My boy had a million nicknames, and somehow he always knew when I was talking to him. One of my favourites was my sunshine baby, because we spent so much time simply soaking up the sun together.
Another was Mathew the Relentless, because when my boy loved something — whether it was a walk, a patch of dandelions, or the hope of a piece of cheese — he pursued it with his whole heart.
My boy was the most amazing adventure buddy. We did everything together. I always used to say that if he wasn’t invited, I wasn’t going either. Whether it was long walks, wandering through fields, chasing the sunshine, or just being side by side through everyday moments, life was always better with him next to me.
He had a way of making ordinary days feel special. Whether we were wandering through a field, standing in the sunshine, or just sharing quiet moments together, my boy reminded me to slow down and notice the simple joys in life.
He was my best friend for eight years. My protector in his own loyal way, and he trusted that I was his too. Somehow this little soul made my heart grow five sizes bigger… and at the same time has left the greatest hole.
My boy was loved by everyone he came across — even if he made sure to bark at them first.
And to me, he will always be my big “vicious” Victor.
That kind of bond is hard to put into words. If you’ve loved a dog like that, you understand.
Losing him has left a space that can never really be filled, but I feel incredibly grateful for every moment we had together. My boy gave me loyalty, comfort, laughter, and a kind of unconditional love that changes you forever. He didn’t just share my life — he shaped who I became.

Thank you, my sweet boy, for every walk, every cuddle, every sunny afternoon, every field of dandelions, and every moment you spent by my side.

You were deeply loved.
And you will be loved forever and more.

I will forever keep you alive in my heart and miss you like crazy.

Forever my sunshine baby.
Forever Mathew the Relentless. 🐾

Love you buddy.
Guard our home.
I’ll see you soon.
Be a good boy.

There was a time when my freezer was full of neatly stacked trays of cooked ingredients just for Mathew.
Salmon, rice, vegetables… all portioned into little cubes so I could pop a few out every morning before work. I even had a special pan and a tiny spatula that were just his — part of our routine.
Of course, Mathew being Mathew, he’d get tired of salmon after a week. So then I’d rotate in different meats… warming up two or three little cubes in that pan every morning while we talked about our day.
That was our rhythm for a while.
Eventually, I optimized the system (of course I did 😌). I started portioning full meals into freezer bags instead — grabbing one every night or every few nights so mornings were easier. But no matter how organized it became, the heart of it never changed.
Mathew was always so good at communicating with me.
What he liked. What he didn’t. When he wanted something different.
Looking back now, those small routines meant everything to him. And in so many ways, they became the foundation of what Doug’s Kitchen is today.

Doug’s Kitchen started because of Mathew. There was a time he wouldn’t eat his food, and I remember sitting on the floor beside him, begging him to take just a few bites. Somehow that turned into us eating breakfast side by side every morning.

I’ve always loved beef and eggs for breakfast and it turns out so did he. From then on, we always made sure his meals included fresh meat, bone broth, eggs and we cannot forget- even a morsel of his favorite - cheese! He’d do his little happy-feet dance in the kitchen while I prepared our breakfasts, and those quiet mornings together are still some of my favourite memories.

What started with him slowly grew into something much bigger — thanks to this community, the conversations at deliveries, and the people who choose to support small, family-run, local businesses like ours.

If you’re part of the Doug’s Kitchen family, thank you for trusting us with your dogs. If you’ve been following along quietly, we’re always happy to chat.

Tell us about your dog below — we love hearing their stories. 🐾
