🚨 Canine Parvovirus Outbreak in HRM – What You Need to Know 🚨

An outbreak of canine parvovirus has been confirmed in our city, putting most commonly unvaccinated, senior and young dogs at high risk.

What is Parvovirus?
Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus that attacks a dog’s gastrointestinal system, causing: 
🩸 Severe vomiting and often bloody diarrhea
🥵 Extreme dehydration
🛑 Weakness and lethargy

It spreads through direct contact with infected dogs, contaminated surfaces, and even human shoes or clothing. Intensive veterinary care is often required for survival.

How to Protect Your Dog:
✅ Vaccinate! Puppies need a full series of shots, and adult dogs require regular boosters.
🚫 Avoid risky areas. Keep unvaccinated dogs away from dog parks, daycares, boarding facilities and high-traffic locations.
🧼 Practice strict hygiene. Wash hands and change clothes after handling unknown dogs or visiting public spaces.
🔍 Monitor for symptoms. Contact your vet immediately if your dog shows signs like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or loss of appetite.

Missing 12lb Black Poodle. Romulus is extremely nervous. Do not approach, call or try to catch. Report any sightings to the lost dog network immediately. Went missing around Chicken Burger in Bedford running along tracks towards Bedford commons.
