🍩 Dr. Patel’s Weekly Tip: The Truth About Timbits 🐾

We know it’s tempting to grab a "plain" Timbit for your co-pilot at the drive-thru, but Dr. Patel has a quick heads-up for our furry friends!
Even a "plain" donut is packed with high sugar and fat content that a dog's digestive system isn't designed to handle.
Why skip the sugar?
• Pancreatitis Risk: High-fat treats can trigger painful inflammation of the pancreas.
• Toxic Hidden Ingredients: Some glazes or sugar-free substitutes (like Xylitol/Birch Sugar) are extremely toxic to dogs.
• Diabetes Risk: Frequent high-sugar treats can lead to insulin resistance and Diabetes Mellitus.

Keep a bag of healthy dental chews or plain baby carrots in the car for your drive-thru trips instead. Your pet gets a reward, and you get peace of mind! ❤️🐾

Have you noticed a strong, unpleasant smell coming from your pet’s mouth? In the veterinary world, we call this Halitosis. 🦷

What is Halitosis? It’s the medical term for chronic bad breath. Halitosis is actually caused by an accumulation of bacteria in the mouth. If left untreated, these bacteria form plaque and tartar, which can lead to painful gum disease and even affect your pet's internal organs.

Halitosis is preventable!

If the smell is persistent, it’s a sign of underlying dental issues.

Regular brushing is the gold standard for keeping bacteria at bay.

A professional cleaning is sometimes the only way to "reset" your pet's oral health and stop Halitosis at the source.

Don't let bad breath come between you and your pet's Valentine’s kisses! 💋 Call us at 519-601-3011 to book a dental assessment this month.

Did you know that even mild dehydration can make your pet feel sluggish and unwell? 💧

Our very own Dr. Patel is back with this week's health tip! Keeping that water bowl sparkling clean and full is the easiest way to prevent serious kidney and urinary issues down the road.

Quick Tip: If your cat is a picky drinker, try a pet water fountain—many cats prefer running water over a still bowl!

Question for you: Does your pet have a favorite "weird" place to drink water? (The garden hose? The bathtub?) Tell us in the comments! 👇
