🔹 Scientific Name: Sturisoma panamense
🔹 Origin: Colombia, Panama (slow-moving rivers & streams)
🔹 Family: Loricariidae (same as Plecos!)

Appearance & Behavior:
These catfish are slim, elongated, and armored with a regal presence. They’re often mistaken for twigs or sticks, perfect natural camouflage! Their gentle temperament and peaceful nature make them ideal for calm community tanks.

Size:
Up to 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) in adulthood, longer than your average catfish!

Tank Requirements:

Tank Size: 30+ gallons

Temperature: 72–79°F (22–26°C)

pH: 6.0–7.5

Substrate: Sand or smooth gravel with plenty of driftwood and plants

Flow: Moderate current mimicking river environments

Diet:
Primarily herbivores – they love biofilm, algae, and blanched veggies (zucchini, cucumber, spinach). Supplement with algae wafers and sinking pellets.

Temperament:
Very peaceful and shy. Best kept with other calm species like tetras, rasboras, and small peaceful cichlids. Avoid aggressive tankmates!

𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡 (𝐏𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐦 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞)

Meet one of the most elegant and iconic fish in the aquarium hobby, the Angelfish!

Quick Facts:
🔹 Scientific Name: Pterophyllum scalare
🔹 Origin: Amazon River Basin, South America
🔹 Size: Up to 6 inches body length; up to 8 inches tall with fins
🔹 Lifespan: 8–10 years with proper care
🔹 Temperament: Semi-aggressive, best kept in calm community setups
🔹 Water Conditions: 75–82°F | pH 6.5–7.5 | Soft to moderately hard water

Why We Love Them:
With their graceful, triangular bodies and flowing fins, angelfish bring a touch of the wild Amazon to your living room. They come in a wide variety of stunning color morphs, from silver and gold to marble, koi, and veil-tail varieties!

Tank Mates:
Peaceful fish like tetras, corydoras, and gouramis can be great companions, just avoid fin-nippers or fish small enough to be considered a snack!

Diet:
Omnivorous, they love high-quality flakes such as Xtreme Community Crave, pellets, and occasional treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp.

Breeding Notes:
Angelfish form monogamous pairs and lay eggs on flat surfaces. With a bit of patience and the right conditions, you may be lucky enough to witness parenting behavior in your tank!

Pro Tip:
Keep angelfish in taller tanks to accommodate their fin height, and maintain excellent water quality — they can be sensitive to poor conditions.
