I’ll be honest — it’s frustrating sometimes.
People have no problem buying a bird, asking us endless questions, wanting our advice, wanting healthy well-socialized babies, wanting support after the sale… but then openly say they’re buying all their supplies online or somewhere else.
What many people don’t realize is small specialty stores don’t survive off one sale. The food, toys, perches, grooming, boarding, and continued support are what actually keep the doors open.
We spend years building knowledge, helping rescues, answering emergency messages, educating owners, and genuinely caring about these birds long after they leave here. Big box stores and warehouses usually don’t provide that level of care or support.
At the end of the day, people can spend their money wherever they want — but supporting local businesses is what keeps places like ours around for the bird community in the first place.
