AC's Bees

AC's Bees Hi, My name is Archer Caden and I keep bees. My first hive was gifted to me by my grandparents when I turned 9. I love my bees!

They have been very busy (as bees usually are) producing loads of lovely honey that I can't wait to share with you!

July 7, 2026:
Our wild hive has moved out and unfortunately wax moths got into some of our stored frames. We had to get rid of the infected frames.
Added another honey super to each of the hives, ready for the honey flow!

Today we went out to check on the beehives and add honey supers.
Somehow, in just a couple of weeks, one of our hives swarmed and moved into the extra honey super boxes we had stacked in the bee yard. Definitely wasn't expecting that, but I guess we got a free extra hive!
We put queen excluders on our original two hives so the queens won't lay eggs in the honey supers. That way the bees can fill those boxes with honey instead.
We also carefully took apart the new wild hive, found the queen, and put a queen excluder on that hive too. Hopefully it'll settle in, and we'll be able to get some honey from it as well.

May 8, 2026: Looks like our original bees took off to find a new home. Even though they were still around last month, it was a long winter and a late spring. Next year, we’ll be sure to feed them some syrup if the first flowers are late to bloom.
We installed two new nucs at the bee yard. Hope they’re happy in their new hives!
