Venus Cat Project Update :)

Hello ...

For two weeks I have said to anyone who would listen, mainly myself, that I would do an update … here it finally is.

I cannot thank you all enough; the response to my plea for help in August to transport 20 cats/kittens to Sauble Beach on short notice meant we did it. Each cat/kitten had their own carry case and Richard with his family showed up at 6:30am Saturday morning with his truck to safely transport them there and back. It was a long exhausting day, but successful!

I don’t mention them much, the vet, the technician all who volunteer their time and expertise to do this work … but when the truth is told, without them we cannot help these cats and the whole situation would be hopeless. If you can, please support the Stray Cat Fund who use the facilities in Sauble Beach to do this important and critical work for stray cats.

Thought you might be interested in our numbers … currently we have neutered spayed 35; 10 adults were returned to the family where the colony lives; 23 have been adopted and there are 2 ready to find their forever homes.

While we are over the half way mark, there are still another 30 kittens yet to be fixed and their forever homes found. So please pass the word around while the kittens can’t go home until they are fixed and seen by a vet anyone can come now and pick a kitten – there are all types of personalities, colours, and genders.

We continue to arrange play sessions for the Venus kittens. It is so important for their development to have interaction with humans, both young and old. If you are interested please let me know.

If you can help, what the colony needs is kitten food, both wet and dry. Donations for the Venus cats can be dropped at Peninsula Pet Supplies, 2826 Hwy 6 in Ferndale (tell them it is for the Venus Cat Family).

There is a rabies vaccine clinic happening in Owen Sound on September 20th. See post for details...

A rabies vaccination clinic is scheduled for September 20,2025at the Owen Sound Animal Shelter.

On September 2oth, 2025 a Rabies Clinic will be held to assist the public in having their pets vaccinated against rabies. This public Rabies Clinic will provide rabies vaccines on this date ONLY.
The hours of will be from 10 am until 2 pm.
The Rabies Clinic will be held at 2125 18th Avenue, East, in the City of Owen Sound at the Owen Sound Animal Shelter (OSAS) with vaccines administered by local veterinarians.
Rabies vaccines will cost $30.00 per animal. All transactions on this day will be cash only. Please try to bring exact change.
