Did you know that unlike humans who sweat all over, dogs primarily sweat through their paw pads? Dogs also cool themselves by panting, which is why you'll see them breathing heavily on hot summer days.
Keep your animals safe this summer by watching for signs of overheating such as excessive panting or drooling, lethargy, disorientation and rapid breathing. If you suspect your pet is overheating, contact your veterinarian right away. And remember, never leave your pet in a vehicle, even for a few minutes - if you see an animal in distress in a parked car, call 911.
