✨ Farm Alumni Update: Usain ✨

We're delighted to share updates about Usain, one of our 2021 foals, who calls California home. This promising young gelding carries some remarkable bloodlines through his sire Ulmar Mail (Berlin x Narco II) and his dam Quick Silver (Quick Star x Schiron Z) combining some of the finest European sport horse genetics.

Now approaching 4 years old, Usain is developing beautifully and howing all the makings of a promising eventing prospect. We're grateful to follow his journey and watch him grow in his California home.

🌿 NEW BLOG ALERT: Boosting Mare Fertility: The Power of Omega-3s🌿

Mare fertility is a cornerstone of successful horse breeding. For breeders, veterinarians, and mare owners alike, understanding the factors that influence reproductive health is crucial. Many elements play a role in a mare’s ability to conceive and carry a pregnancy to term, including genetics, age, overall health, and management practices. Proper nutrition, stress reduction, and reproductive health monitoring all contribute to optimizing fertility. However, even with the best care, some mares struggle with conception or maintaining a pregnancy.

I was already committed to providing my broodmares with the best nutrition and care possible. Yet, like any dedicated breeder, I wondered if there was one more secret to unlocking their full fertility potential. When I asked my reproductive vet for that extra edge, his answer was surprisingly simple: add omega-3 to their diet. This recommendation led me to explore the science behind omega-3 fatty acids and their role in reproductive health.

We deeply believe in a progressive weaning process that prioritizes the well-being of both mare and foal. Rather than abrupt separation, we take a gradual approach, allowing foals to adjust both physically and emotionally. This method helps reduce stress, encourages confidence, and supports a smooth transition to independence.

When possible, we also try to wean the foals together. By keeping foals in pairs or small groups, they can rely on one another for companionship and comfort during this transition. This social interaction helps alleviate the anxiety that can come with weaning, fostering a sense of security as they adapt to their new routines.

Currently, Viking QTM and Cérès QTM are living this process together. Viking has already found his future home, but will remain at the farm for the next months. Meanwhile, Cérès QTM is still looking for her forever home—she is a keen, athletic filly with balanced and uphill gaits, making her an exciting prospect for the hunter/jumper ring.

Weaning is a significant milestone in a foal’s journey, and we work to help them grow into well-adjusted, confident young horses.

✨ Talent Spotlight: Utopie's Natural Jumping Ability! ✨

We're thrilled to share these impressive shots of Utopie, a promising 2024 filly by our stallion Corteo W5 out of a warmblood mare! Just look at that natural form and athleticism over this small fence - this is exactly what we hope for! 🎯

Congratulations to her breeder, Alice Deblats from Écurie Royales in Québec City, on producing such a promising sport horse prospect. So far, Corteo tends to pass on excellent athletic qualities to his offspring - and as a bonus, she got his signature touch of chrome too!

We can't wait to follow this talented young filly's journey as she develops. 🌟

Meet Valkyrie QTM (Visage van de Olmenheove / Conquest Van de Helle / Alexis Z), one of our graduates, now 3 years old and thriving in her New Jersey home. The bond between Valkyrie and Alex is simply magical. She comes running whenever he calls, and their partnership during the starting under saddle process has been remarkably smooth - exactly what we aim for! 🦄

At the end of the day, we don't just breed horses to sell them - we help create partnerships and fulfill dreams. Seeing Valkyrie and Alex's connection reminds us why we pour our hearts into carefully selecting each bloodline and raising our foals with love and attention. 💖

❄️ When Mother Nature Tests Your Farm Spirit! ❄️

With over 60cm of snow blanketing our farm during the last week, we faced quite an adventure. It took hours of intense work to clear and restore our paddocks to make them safe and accessible for our horses again. Swipe through these before & after moments of our winter warrior work!
This is the behind-the-scenes reality of maintaining a horse farm in Quebec winters - it's not always glamorous, but it's always worth it for our four-legged family members! 🐎❄️

Then, last Thursday, we had an unexpected power outage right in the middle of evening routine (and during the hockey game!). But farm life teaches you to be resourceful... We got creative and used our truck's headlights to illuminate the way, making sure all our precious horses made it safely back to their stalls. We also have been able to finish our evening routine properly.

A special heartfelt thank you to our amazing friend Odrée and her daughter who came to help when I found myself managing those chores alone in the darkness.
A big thank you to Louis for his help on the tractor as well!

🇨🇦 Building Bridges: A Reality Check 🇺🇸

The recent 25% export fee between Canada and the USA isn't just a business issue - it's about families, communities, and everyday life on both sides of the border.

What does this really mean?
• Higher costs for everyday products in both countries
• Families having to rethink their shopping choices
• Local businesses facing higher costs and declining revenues
• Communities feeling the pressure to "pick sides"

But here's what history has taught us: Trade wars have no winners. When we substitute products to fuel economic conflicts, we all lose. Our strength has always been in our connection - neighbors supporting neighbors, regardless of which side of the border we call home. 🏠

Throughout the last years running our small business, I've had the joy of building incredible relationships with American friends, clients, and partners. These connections aren't just business transactions - they're genuine friendships built on trust, shared dreams, and mutual respect. ❤

The truth is:
• Canadian families need American products
• American families need Canadian products
• Our economies have grown stronger together
• Our communities thrive on collaboration, not division

Just my two cents as a small business owner: Politics may try to divide us, but the genuine connections between people - the friendships, partnerships, and community bonds we've built over years - those are stronger than any trade policy. ✨ Celebrating New Beginnings: Viking QTM found his new home✨

We're thrilled to announce that our charismatic young c**t, Viking QTM, has captured the heart of Parth from Ontario, Canada! 🌟

Viking has been an absolute character at our farm, winning everyone over with his famous 'velcro' personality and endless charm. From day one, he's been that special foal who made everyone smile with his impressive built and determination to 'supervise' every farm activity - following us around like a devoted shadow! 🥰

What makes this match even more special is that Viking will continue his early development here at our Farm before joining his new family. He'll be developed as a jumper prospect while remaining intact.🫶

His sweet temperament, combined with his outstanding athletic abilities, promises an exciting future in the sport horse world. We're beyond grateful to continue being part of his journey! 🦄

As we share the bloodlines we are using in our program, we will randomly post some of the reference stallions and mares we can find in the pedigree of our horses.

Introducing the influential Cassini I, doubly present in our breeding program! We find him in both Beaulieu's Quadrella Girl's pedigree (through her sire, Beaulieu's Quissini - Quidam de Revel x Cassini I) and as the sire of our mare Belle Annee (Cassini I x Gaspari).

Some horses don't just participate in history - they shape it. Born on April 1st, 1988, this son of Capitol I would go on to redefine what we expect from modern sport horses. His own sporting career was a testament to his exceptional talent. Approved in Holstein at just 2 years old with outstanding scores, Cassini I went on to complete his 100-day test in Adelheidsdorf with brilliance. Under the saddle of renowned rider Franke Sloothaak, he proved his athletic prowess competing successfully up to S-level show jumping, demonstrating the same exceptional scope and technique he would later pass on to his offspring.

But it was in breeding that Cassini I truly wrote his name in the history books. From his very first breeding season, he showed an extraordinary ability to stamp his offspring with his best qualities. His impact on the sport is undeniable, producing numerous international show jumpers and approved breeding stallions.

His notable offspring include:
🏆 Olympic medalist Cumano (Jos Lansink)
🏆 Berlin (Gerco Schröder)
🏆 Eurocommerce California (Gerco Schröder)
And many more international champions...
