A very busy morning in the barn today. Farriers hard at work. Veterinarians doing dental work and general maintenance and of course regular riding lessons also in progress. And Ranger doggy the barn, mascot just taking it all in.
Surprisingly everything ran very smooth.

It appears that the delivery trucks Are larger than they used to be. I guess we should’ve built a bigger bin.😂🚚

Another cold weekend on the farm.
The Sorine clinic is going well. Hope everyone is learning and enjoying the clinic.
Yesterday we had some heavy snow showers that made for a pretty scene from the indoor. Then later in the day the sun came back out.
A big thank you to all our weekend staff. They show up every weekend at 7 AM. It is a difficult job on the best of days But the snow, ice and freezing conditions, make it even more difficult, pushing Wheelbarrows through the snow while cleaning pens it’s hard work. The John Deere gator is coming in handy during this weather.
Or stable couldn’t operate without you. You are much appreciated.❤️🐶

Pyramid Stables would like to welcome Sorine Winther to the farm this weekend. Sorine will be teaching 17 horse and riders.

SORINE WINTHER
HEAD COACH & OWNER OF RIDGECOUNTRY FARM
Sorine was born and raised in Prince George and grew up on this very farm! She had a successful competitive career as a junior in both the Jumper and Equitation rings. After graduation she continued her riding and coaching education in the lower mainland while obtaining her degree in Psychology from UBC.

Sorine continued to ride, compete and finish her Equine Canada coaching certification while working as a children’s counsellor before moving home to Prince George in 1995. At this time, Sorine started her own equestrian business which has been successfully running ever since.

As a Licensed Equine Canada Coach she has learned the importance of safety and professional development. Focussing on safety in the barn, riding, competition areas for both horse and rider, in conjunction with continuing her education are top priorities for Sorine

Over the years Sorine has had the opportunity to train with, and alongside, several top North American trainers and clinicians. She has had several horses that competed up to and at the Grand Prix level. In 2002, Sorine’s priorities expanded to include starting a family, and before long her daughters were sharing in her love of horses. They now compete together on the EC Gold Circuit, each with a home bred horse in their string.

Sorine takes great pride in the exceptional love and care she provides her horses throughout their lives. From breeding, raising, training, competing, and later providing retirement for her horses. She believes that owning horses is a lifelong commitment, and teaches this to her students by demonstrating her own dedication to her horses as a part of her everyday life.

Yes, the snow is pretty to look at and the horses are definitely having a great time frolicking around and it makes for pretty pictures and all ls nice until you realize you may be the only one here doing all the farm tours. And then at 7 AM the cars that braved the snow and icy roads pull in the driveway at all the staff make it to work.😃 a big thank you to all our staff today who all showed up for work. We appreciate all of you.
Lessons were canceled, so took the opportunity to do some work in the indoor and then ploughed all the pathways.

We have certainly been taking advantage of this beautiful sunny weather here on the farm. Lots of cleanup around the farm and a busy day today emptying the manure bin and selling compost. First time anyone’s bought compost in January.🤔
And the horses really seem to be enjoying this dry sunny weather too. Lots of sleepy horses today.❤️🐴

Not sure why, but there is something satisfying about winterizing the farms irrigation system. Another busy summer coming to an end. This job is usually done the first two weeks of November. Yet here we are in mid January and not one night below 0°. But time to quit playing Russian roulette with the weather so Best get the job done before all the pipes freeze in crack 🥶

A lovely sunny day here on the farm. +8 today a little unseasonable for this time of year. But we will take it.🤗🤗❤️🐴

Merry Christmas from all of us at Pyramid Stables 🎁🎅🤶

It's the night before Christmas, we're out in the barn,
Blanketing horses to keep them all warm,
They're eating their dinners, tucked in cozy stalls,
Not aware that it's Christmas, or any special day at all.

They can dream of spring pastures from their pine-scented beds,
No visions of sugarplums dance in their heads,
But we people are thinking of merry parties and such,
Maybe feeling a little sad at missing so much.

This season is special but the horses don't know,
We've got work to do before we can go,
We finish the chores and head on inside,
To get ready for dinner and our own yuletide.

It's nearly midnight, the carols are sung,
I remember a story I was told when I was young,
How at midnight on Christmas Eve,
The creatures of the barnyard can speak to us with ease.

I am called to the barn, I wade through the rain,
I know I must go, I can't really explain,
I slide open the door, pause for a while,
Then slowly walk down the dimly lit aisle.

A nicker from LL , a wink from Kudos,
Sleepy old Buddy waking to see,
Leo rustling his bedding, a snort soft and light,
Each horse gave a greeting as I walked through the night.

I thought about parties bright lit and warm,
The ones we don't go to 'cause we have the barn,
And vacations and holidays that we don't get,
When we're working long hours for bills to be met.

Walking all the way to the end of the aisle,
I stop to stroke Pepper, it brings me a smile,
He snuffles my face, hot breath on my skin,
It starts me to thinking about my horses, my kin.

I could be at parties with laughter and mirth,
But where I am right now is the best place on Earth.

We are now offering for sale, raspberries, and blackberries. They are located in the farm fridge on our farmstand in the entrance to our barn.
The berries were grown on our farm and frozen on cookie trays so you can use the whole bag or just a handful. These berries are great for baking, smoothies, oatmeal, etc. etc. They are frozen in 1 1/4 lb bags. The cost is $6 per bag. Barn hours or 8 AM to 6 PM. If the fridge is empty, let us know and we’ll get more from the big freezer.

It was a fun afternoon here at the stable as we held our annual Pyramid Stables, annual barn, family Christmas party. The rain put a damper on our campfire and hotdog roast so we will have that for tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who helped set up and for all the wonderful goodies to eat. Hope everyone had a great time. Here are a few pictures of our party 🥳🤶🎅❤️🐴

A bit of a lazy horse day on the farm. After all the rain and the big storm today it is +8 and balmy. Most of the horses are having a snooze. But not us humans. Today we are putting crusher fines around some of the shelters.
This will definitely make it easier for the wheelbarrows and to clean the paddocks ❤️🐴

Another very busy weekend on the farm. This weekend we rented a boom lift, the Nifty SP34.
Just a one day rental, but because it’s a long weekend, we get it for four days.
spent one whole day on the indoor ring and barn cleaning all the eve troughs, fixing some loose downspouts, Caulking, some vents, Replacing a few sprinkler heads in the in-door ring, cleaning the viewing lounge windows and dusting the emergency lights.
Day two we were up trimming branches in the driveway and some work in the outdoor riding ring. And the view is always amazing from that height. And a big thank you to Matt David for all the help❤️🐴
