REUNITED!!! 😍😍

🚨 FOUND LITTLE DOG 🚨.

Found small dog running through traffic on 200th & 88th going on to the on ramp to hwy 1 East at about 1030pm last night. *No tags* Langley animal hospital was not able to scan for chip due to "missing reader"

He spent the night safe at home with me, very sweet boy! Very playful and happy, he has a fresh haircut so someone is missing him! Please share and contact me if anyone knows who this baby might belong too.

After a lot of reflection and many many tears, I wanted to share a personal and important update with everyone.

As of June 1st, I will be officially taking a pause and stepping away from grooming. This decision has not come easily, at all. Grooming has been such a huge part of my life, my identity, and my connection to so many incredible dogs and their humans over the years.

The truth is, since losing my beautiful girl Abby, I have been carrying a grief that has changed me deeply. Over the past months, I’ve realized I need to honour where my heart is leading me.

So while one chapter is gently closing, another is beginning.

I’m so excited to officially introduce The Dog Mother Adventure Co. — a new journey centered around connection, nature, healing, adventure, and celebrating the bond we share with our dogs. This next chapter feels deeply personal, purposeful, and very much inspired by Abby.

And for those who have been following quietly behind the scenes… Abby’s story is also growing into something even bigger. I’ve been building Abby’s Legacy Society, a nonprofit close to my heart that will support canine cancer research and screening, grief and mental health support for people struggling with the loss of a beloved animal, and the beautiful bond that changes our lives forever. More on that soon. 🤍

To everyone who has trusted me with your dogs, supported me, and walked beside me through every chapter—thank you, you mean more to me than you know. This isn’t goodbye… it’s simply a new path, and I’m so grateful you’re here for it. I will also be in contact with my clients personally over the coming week.

With love,
Shay + Abby, always 🩷🐾

Losing Abby has left a hole in my heart that will never be filled, so for her, and as I continue working toward creating something bigger in Abby's honor. I will be starting to offer canine transportation and one-on-one adventure services. My hope is that this allows me to stay engaged in the community, support local pet parents, and continue advocating for the wellbeing of our dogs.

Services will include:

🚗 Local Pick-Up & Drop-Offs
• Veterinary visits
• Daycare or boarding
• Other scheduled care needs

🌲 One-on-One Adventures & Hikes
• Private walks and nature hikes
• Enrichment-focused outings
• Extra attention for dogs who thrive in a calm, individualized setting

🛣 Long-Distance Transportation
• Moving out of province
• Cross-border travel
• Situations where families feel unsure about their dog flying in cargo
• Other long-haul travel needs

Every dog will be treated with the same care, patience, and love that Abby taught me to give. She continues to inspire me and be the heart of everything I do, and honoring her by helping other dogs feels like the most meaningful way forward.

If you or someone you know could benefit from safe, compassionate canine transportation or one-on-one adventures, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and keep Abby’s memory alive. She will always be the heart and spirit behind everything I do. 🤍🐾

Thank you all for your kindness, support and patience through this extremely difficult time. My Abby was so healthy, so happy, so full of life. I still can't wrap my mind around this.

I am working on spreading awareness and sharing Abby's story to help prevent this awful tragedy from continuing to happen. 💔

💜 IN LOVING MEMORY OF ABBY 💜

HELPING SAVE DOGS THROUGH CANCER AWARENESS

This is my Abby, She was happy, loved, healthy and so full of life.

On the morning of February 24th, we went for a normal walk. Nothing seemed wrong. But later that day Abby began acting off, and within minutes we were rushing her to the emergency vet.

There, we were told something we had never even heard of before — a suspected diagnosis of Hemangiosarcoma, a fast and aggressive cancer that grows in the blood vessels and often forms tumors on the heart or spleen.

What makes this cancer so devastating is that many dogs show little to no warning signs. Dogs can appear completely healthy until suddenly something is terribly wrong.

**Some warning signs that can appear suddenly include:**
• Sudden weakness or collapse
• Pale gums
• Rapid or labored breathing
• Lethargy after normal activity
• Abdominal swelling or distension

These signs can be life-threatening and require immediate veterinary care.

Because Hemangiosarcoma can grow silently, early screening and routine veterinary exams are incredibly important — especially for middle-aged and senior dogs or breeds that may be at higher risk. Advanced imaging and echocardiogram screening may help detect abnormalities earlier.

We are sharing Abby’s story to help raise awareness so more dog parents know about this disease and can talk with their veterinarian about screening options.

Abby was and will always be, deeply loved, and her story deserves to help other dogs and families.

If you see this post, please help spread awareness by sharing Abby’s story.

Please follow her story and help us to continue raising awareness here:

Even one share could help another dog get help sooner.

In loving memory of Abby. ❤️🐾

I will be taking a small break from grooming, I am so sorry to all for the late notice. I will be sending personal messages to the pups booked for the week, I can offer a recommendation in the mean time if anyone would like. I am hoping it will just be for this week to get answers and things figured out. Please refer to Abby's page for more information as I just don't have the energy to type things out. I truly love all the pups but I need to put my full focus on Abby, my beautiful girl, my love, at this time. Thank you xo 🐾

Abby's Legacy Society honors the life and love of my beloved Abby by raising awareness of canine cancer, supporting vetrinary research, and providing compassionate grief and mental health support for pet parents. You are not alone.

Highly recommend Ella Norman for pet sitting and walking! Ella was Abby's physical therapy attendant at Aqua Paws in Langley and she was amazing. So friendly, warm, passionate about the dogs and very knowledgeable ❤️.

Those of you that really know me, know I don't trust anyone with Abby 🤣. But I 100% trust Ella 🤍

🐾 A Little Life Update 🐾

I wanted to take a moment to share why things have been a little quieter around here lately 🤍

As many of you know, Abby recently had TPLO surgery on her left knee. We jumped straight into physical therapy and for a while, things were going so well — she was healing beautifully, gaining strength, and truly thriving.

Unfortunately, we hit a bit of a bump in the road. Abby recently started limping on her right leg, and after evaluation, it turns out she has a minor tear in that knee as well. Surgery has been recommended, and of course, we’re doing everything we can to make sure she’s taken care of. Her second surgery is scheduled for January 29th, and physical therapy will begin again two weeks after 🤍

It’s been a lot — emotionally, physically, and mentally — but Abby is strong, resilient, and so loved. Through it all, she continues to remind me why I do what I do and why whole-dog care matters so deeply.

While I’ve been quieter online, I’ve still been working hard behind the scenes… and I can’t wait to share what’s coming next 👀✨
Hint hint — it might have something to do with home cooked food...

Thank you so much for your patience, support, and love. More updates soon 🤍

With love,
The Dog Mother 🐾
