was formed in 1993 when a group of animal lovers wanted a shelter for animals that were homeless. We provide shelter for stray, abandoned and unwanted cats in a safe, loving, cage free environment. There is a no kill policy at C.A.R.E.S., therefore any animals that are not adopted will be able to live the rest of their natural lives at the shelter. In February of 1998, C.A.R.E.S. Cats that are rescued, receive quality food, shelter and veterinary care and many of those cats are then taken to the PetSmart adoption centre in the Langley store. From February 1998 to December 2011, we have adopted out over 5400 cats from that location. As a small, non-profit organization we rely on our community of volunteers to help us keep the shelter clean and the cats well loved. Our volunteers assist with adoptions at PetSmart as well as cleaning, caring for the cats, fostering cats and kittens and generally providing love and protection for abused, injured, hungry, lost and abandoned animals. is funded entirely through memberships, adoption fees, fundraising events and the generous tax-deductible donations of caring individuals and corporations. is a non-profit Society and a registered Charity. Meet Jujube, there’s something truly magical about this little lady. This gorgeous two year old black cat is a little panther with bright, striking and impossible to forget eyes!

But behind those majestic eyes is the sweetest little charmer. Jujube has really come out of her shell, and now that she’s feeling more confident, her sweet, chatty and outgoing personality is shining through.

She loves pets, loves to play, and will happily keep you company with her gentle little conversations.

Jujube may need a little time to settle into a new home, but once she feels safe and comfortable, she’ll reward you with affection, playfulness and all the love her little heart has to give.

She does well with other cats and would be happiest in a calm, peaceful home without small children or dogs where she can continue to blossom at her own pace.

This beautiful little panther has the eyes of an ancient warrior and the heart of a sweetheart. 🖤

💕 Boo is waiting for her person

Boo is one of those cats who makes you want to reach through the screen and give her a hug. 🥹❤️

This beautiful little 6 year old girl came to us after her owner went into care. She was used to having someone with her all the time, and now she finds herself waiting for that special person to come along and make her feel safe and loved again.

Boo is sweet, affectionate, and wonderfully people oriented. She loves attention and being close to her person. She may be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her a little time and patience, and her sweet personality begins to shine through.

She seems comfortable around other friendly cats, but she isn't looking to be the centre of the kitty social scene. What Boo really seems to want is her person. Someone she can follow around, curl up beside, and simply be close to.

We think a quieter home would be perfect for this precious girl. Somewhere she can settle in at her own pace and eventually become the apple of someone's eye. 🍎💕

Boo has already lost the person she knew and loved. Now she deserves to know what it feels like to be chosen again. Could you be her forever person? 🐾❤️
