Just an announcement for clients going forward from now I won’t be shoeing new horses without x rays being taken before hand so we have a starting point to work from . Unfortunately this has to become standard procedure due to a couple of instances I’ve had where people haven’t been forthcoming with vital information about issues with their horses or another equine professional is involved and immediately feels the urge to slander my standard of work and professional reputation without as much as a phone call .. the majority of clients and other professionals involved are great they really are great but I have had some bizarre interactions with a couple of owners who won’t disclose their horses history to me and the other professionals involved won’t even engage (if they wanted to engage they would call me ) with me to come up with a solution for the horse to fix the problem at hand and all of these issues whether lameness or dysfunctional & diseased hooves are all new comers to me things I’ve been landed with .. kind of a little fed up of having to try fix these issues with no starting point (x rays ) and other professionals riding in and firmly placing me under the bus meanwhile they were more than comfortable to stand by while previous years of poor /substandard farriery (or infrequent farriery which is a management issue ) has been carried out to get them into the awful state they are when they end up with me . So in order to provide the best outcome for horse and rider new customers will be required to get foot x rays and a podiatry report from now on !! I could post pictures of some of the messed up feet I’ve been landed because quarter cracks crushed heels and deformity seem to be acceptable .. J McCormick I.M.F , DipWcF
