Dont listen to them, they're liars! They're not starving! They eat more than I do!! Lol 😆

This is Beans, and Karen's 2 (with the missing feathers 😠). They are just weaning off hand feedings and will be available for adoption.

An Account from the Aviary:

Meet Karen (left). Karen just had her 3rd clutch of chicks, and this is the 2nd time that Ive had to take them away at about 2 weeks old. As you can see, she gets a little wild and starts plucking herself. Unfortunately, she then begins to pluck the chicks, as well.
Her and Hank (middle), her ever-doting husband, have an aviary all to themselves, so, she shouldnt feel any territorial stress. She has access to all kinds of chewing/foraging toys and vitamins so she shouldnt feel bored, or nutrient deprived.
I think this will be Karen's last clutch for now. Her and Hank are, currently, sharing a light snack while chatting about their day. And yes, Karen's feathers are already starting to grow back.

Plucked chicks (3rd pic) are doing great! One may need a little hat until his feathers grow back in, though. 😒

Pic in comments 😊

An Account from the Aviary:

This is Beans. She is 7 wks old, but looks to be about 4 wks. I pulled her from the nest, to be hand-fed, when she was about 2 weeks old. I noticed she was much smaller than her siblings, and hadn't started feathering yet. Being so small and underdeveloped, compared to the rest of the clutch, put her at risk of not getting fed by her parents, or of being trampled by the others. I noticed she took longer to get growing, but now, she seems to be catching up quickly. No reason, that I can see, for this "slow grower", other than; she just needed more time. Beans is beginning to perch and nibble seeds now. I have no concerns for her health. She's a happy little thing, and will be available for adoption soon. 😊
