After a great deal of consideration we have decided it is time to transition away from our feed business and the sale of Buckeye Nutrition Products and Maaax Equine Products.

Over the coming weeks we will be working closely with Brian Renaud and the team at The Feed Store in Harrow to ensure that the transition is a smooth as possible so that everyone still has access to all of the industry leading Buckeye Nutrition Products.

Thank you to all customers and followers for your support over the past 9 years I am truly blessed to have been able to meet so many amazing individuals in the horse community and couldn’t have operated without all of you!

Do you know your horse’s body condition?

We can help! Body condition scoring is used to assess external body fat with an ideal score being around 5 depending on the horse’s body structure.

Using the Body Condition Scoring (BCS) Tool, you can better prepare to maintain a healthy weight in the future. Follow the steps below to ensure you are calculating correctly.

🐴Ensure your horse or pony is stood on a firm, level surface.
🐴Your horse/pony should be relaxed, bearing weight on all four feet and ideally stood square.
🐴Score each of the six body areas on the diagram above from 1-9.

Concerned about maintaining or gaining weight before winter?❄ We can help! With proper nutrition and an increase in calories, your horse can be prepared!

✅: Prevent weight loss before it starts. Provided they are otherwise healthy and not laminitic, going into winter at a body condition of 6/9 may help hard keepers buffer excess weight loss.

🍳: Check your horse’s calorie intake. Assure you are feeding the recommended amount of your current feed. Weight loss can be a sign of poor dental health. Have your horse’s teeth checked regularly.

🌱: Forage is essential for digestive health and accounts for a significant portion of daily calorie intake. Feed quality hay and hay replacers if horses and ponies are unable to manage hay.

🧥: Ensure horses remain warm to prevent the waste of valuable energy.
