New pup? It’s time to come up with a PLAN!
Set family rules.
The rules must be consistent with how you want your pup to behave as an adult.
Don’t want your dog to jump up on people?
Ignore the pup when he does this. Only pay them attention when they have all 4 feet on the floor.
Want your dog to always come when they are called?
Every time you call the pup and they come give them a treat. Never call them to you to be disciplined.
Want your adult dog to be off the furniture?
Keep your pup off the furniture.
If your adult dog is not allowed in the guest room, your puppy must not have access to it.
All family members must agree to the rules and follow them consistently.
