The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth has been serving the community since 1927. The humane society is self-funded and self-governed.
In 2012, the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society and the Stratford SPCA combined under one organization and board of directors to create KWSPHS. The Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society and Stratford Perth Humane Society have long standing histories of serving people and pets in their communities. In 2012, the two organizations joined to become one of Ontario's largest animal welfare charities. Today,
they are known as The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth, which operate animal centres in Kitchener and Stratford. Together, they service the areas of Kitchener, Waterloo, Wilmot, Woolwich, Wellesley, Stratford and Perth County. The humane society also helps animals outside of these areas, as time and resources allow. Outside of contracts for animal services, they receive no government funding. Instead, they rely on the generosity of donors to help animals within their communities and to provide animal welfare focused education and outreach. MISSION

Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Today, we pause to honour the survivors of residential schools, and the children who never came home.
We reflect on the truths of this history, and the ongoing impact on Indigenous families and communities. We commit to listening, learning, and taking meaningful steps toward reconciliation, each and every day.
As a team, we are taking time to learn and reflect together today, and we encourage you to learn more: https://nctr.ca/education/
Out of respect, our social channels will be quiet today as we honour this day with reflection and learning.

Do you or someone you know need a little help keeping food bowls full this week? We’re here for you.
Our Pet Pantry is open tomorrow in Kitchener from 1PM – 4PM and Friday in Stratford from 10am – 1pm.
This program runs thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. 💙 If you’re able to donate pet food, you’ll be helping neighbours and their pets through difficult times.
Because we’re all Better Together, and no one should ever have to choose between caring for themselves and their pets.
*Availability of products depends on our volume of stock.

We are deeply touched by the generosity of long-time supporter, Sheila, who donated $500 in memory of her beloved chihuahuas, Chia and Cheech. 💛
Chia was almost 17 years old and, in Sheila’s words, “the love of our lives.” This beautiful, memorial gift creates a legacy that will help other animals in need find love and care.
Memorial giving is a powerful way to honour the special bond we share with our pets. These donations not only celebrate their memory, but also bring hope to countless animals still waiting for their chance at a forever home.
Thank you, Sheila, for turning love into lasting impact.
This wonderful family fell in love with an adorable, little pup named "Sparky" at our shelter. Sparky was pretty special because he only had 3 legs! The family made the decision to welcome Sparky into their family and gave him the new name "Maverick," but that's not even the best part...
They adopted a dog from us 9 years ago named Riot, and wouldn't you know it... Riot is also a 3-legged dog! Now, these two special pups get to be best pals and live a wonderful life together ❤️

A (Happy) Tail of Two Kitties 🐈
"Ellie (Eclipse) started off as shy and easily spooked, yet sweet. Now, after two months, she is the sweetest, goofiest cat. She loves her food and playtime and often calls us to join her for a game. She’s incredibly communicative, waking us up with gentle trills and rubbing against our faces. Ellie loves being around us, quietly watching everything with her curious eyes.
Luna-bee (Luna) is our little fireball—a perfect mix of sweetness and energy. She’s extremely affectionate, friendly, playful, and talkative. Her purring starts with just a glance. Luna loves playing with Ellie. She also enjoys playing hide-and-seek with us and loves it when we throw toys for her to chase and find.
We’re so glad we brought them home together. Ellie and Luna fill our days with joy as we watch them run and play, and they warm our hearts with their trills and purrs.

The Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society was founded in 1927 with a mission of helping lost, abandoned or abused animals get a second chance at life. In 2012, we assumed ownership of the long-standing Perth County OSPCA branch, renaming it the Stratford Perth Humane Society. Since 2012, we have been known as one organization, now called the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth.
The Humane Society exists to help animals in need in our communities. We operate two locations - the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society in Kitchener, and the Stratford Perth Humane Society in Stratford. Together they service the areas of Kitchener, Waterloo, Wilmot, Woolwich, Wellesley, Stratford and Perth County. From time to time we help animals outside of these areas, as time and resources allow.
The Humane Society is self-funded and self- governed. Outside of contracts for animal protection services, we receive no government funding. We rely on the generosity of our donors to help animals within our communities and to provide animal welfare focused community education and outreach.
We offer a variety of community programs for youth and adults, as well as low-cost veterinary options such as microchipping, trap-neuter-return / barn cat programs, and spay/neuter services.
For more information on our organization, along with our programs and services, we gladly invite you to visit our website at kwsphumane.ca.
