Grooming and Small Grant Update

GRANT PROGRAM UPDATE – We have heard the new Ontario grant program is working, but the biggest complaint is from businesses that are not eligible because they have not been ordered to shut down, even though they’ve taken a huge hit. We are trying to figure out how opening something up that was shut down would impact grant eligibility. In light of this we’d strongly encourage groomers to apply for this program asap as they are classified as “shut down”. If you are a retailer or other type of business who has tried the application with success or failure, please reach out to [email protected] at our office to let us know your experience. GROOMING UPDATE - While we are celebrating the news about walkers being able to get back to business as normal, we are carrying on with our fight for groomers. Here is what we know as of this morning. Our CFIB (FCEI) lobby team has spoken directly to the government and despite what may be reported in the news, grooming businesses are still not permitted to be open. Needless to say this has caused great confusion and added stress to you and your clients. We do know the issue has been brought back to the Health Ministry for discussion. It’s good to know the wheels are in motion. Ultimately, what we want is written confirmation we can share with members to help ensure no one is fined.

TLC Groomery is currently closed due to the Ontario-wide lockdown. Everyone with an appointment scheduled during this time will be put on a list, in order, and we will contact you to reschedule as soon as we confirm our reopening date. If you would like to schedule a future appointment, please contact us and we will add you to the list as well. We understand this will be upsetting news for some of you. We will do everything we can to support you and your pet by providing information and instructions on how to maintain your pets’ grooming health from home. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. Stay safe.

SALON UPDATE # 523
I want to say a huge thank you to all of my loyal clients and new friends for supporting me on my new salon journey. While my physical location is not yet ready, my team and I are ready to launch our new philosophy and brand. I don’t know how to explain how amazing Teddy, his bear cub brother Ovie and his entire family is. I know a lot of groomers tend to avoid working with Chow Chows (usually for good reasons), but working with this crew has been a highlight of my career. I have a lot of experience working with large “difficult” breeds but I don’t get the opportunity to do detailed modern styling on these big guys very often. I have learned so much! I’ll be doing a whole series of posts featuring Teddy and Ovie but for now, I’d like to give a big shout out to for supplying me with some amazing products that made a big difference in Teddy’s coat texture. Also a huge thank you to Icey Wu for lending her experience in trimming double coated breeds (and every other breed too 😀)
