Maverick did a great job today supporting our local paramedics through his role as a peer support dog.....take a look at his fancy new paramedic vest with his title & name on it๐Ÿพ

Maverick is learning to tune into how a variety of people deal with stress, some people require the total body smother technique, as others just need to make time for a good ol' game of fetch ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿ˜

For the past ten years it's been a quite passion of mine to be able to create a program for our first responders to have the comfort of dogs join them during their time of need at work.

I am proud to say that as of this past week we received overwhelming support from the Chief of the Frontenac Paramedics to run our pilot program for the next six months, as we work alongside of them in training up some pups to bring in some unconditional love to stressful situations โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Many thanks to Matt & Kelly, along with their pup Maverick for helping to shape and mold this new program.... without your hard work and dedication this program may not have come into existence ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿพ

I believe the Lord has opened these doors during a time when mental health has been a struggle for many first responders.

Please keep us in your prayers, as we work to create a long-term sustainable program ๐Ÿพ

I don't generally have a fear of snakes.......unless my dog alerts me to one coiled up in the corner of my bedroom ๐Ÿ˜ฌ This lovely water snake ๐Ÿ( 3 feet long ) somehow slithered it's way into our home and furthermore into my bedroom. I was very proud of myself (I probably deserve a medal), as I calmly coxed him into a metro bin and carried him down to the lake to be released. Hopefully our friendship has been terminated ๐Ÿฅบ

I will stick to training dogs....not snakes!!

In today's Toronto Sun, Ontario SPCA President and CEO Charmain Brett takes a hard look at an issue many Ontarians are worried about โ€” the growing gap in access to veterinary care.

Rising costs, long drives for basic care, and families being forced to surrender pets they love are symptoms of a larger problem. Whatโ€™s missing from the headlines is a deeper conversation about what comes next.

In her piece, Charmaine argues that we need to rethink how veterinary care is delivered. Keeping pets and their families together isnโ€™t just an animal welfare issue โ€” itโ€™s an equity issue that speaks to who we are as a society.

Her op-ed calls for bold, collaborative action to create a future where access to veterinary care isnโ€™t determined by income or geography.
