We have a wealth of knowledge between us ALL as trainers. It's because our biggest focus, for us personally as dog owners is to have a happy well-adjusted dog that allows us to do all these other fun activities. Give us a call and tell us what's going on with your dog :) ! 613-214-0217 Our programs are based on reliable obedience even with distractions and MOST importantly behavioral training. Behavioral training that helps your dog be calm himself without YOU needing to give him constant obedience directions. We include our super popular Mixed Topic Group classes with all training so you can learn new fun activities- AND get exposure and socialization with other dogs too.

Patience training is one of the most overlooked parts of dog training.

This is Willa, who is dog-reactive, doing some Behavioral Adjustment Exercises (BAT) where she learns HER behavior affects this social interaction. Its an incredibly powerful skill in "self-learning". no obedience involved! This exercise lets her get rewarded for making the RIGHT choices in ignoring the other dog, Slim Shady.

Many dogs see another dog playing and immediately assume they're invited- and for Willa this is too much and very stressful! Here she is learning to relax...

The reality is that not every dog wants to interact. Not every owner wants an introduction. And not every dog in public is safe to approach.

That's why we teach dogs to remain calm, stay connected to their handler, and wait for permission instead of making social decisions on their own. We do this by rewarding them when they make the correct (calm) choices through-self learning

Save this if want a dog with good manners around other dogs that will relax and ignore other dogs- Roseann Deluca CCDT-OT, Owner Founder Since 2002, Cold Creek Dog Training🐾🐾

Dogs learn best when they're set up to succeed.

Instead of jumping straight into busy parks or shopping centers, we first teach leash skills in a controlled, neutral environment where dogs can focus without feeling overwhelmed.

Once they understand the job, we gradually increase the challenge.

That's how training becomes reliable not just during lessons, but in everyday life.

This is Ranger.

Today, his job wasn't perfect obedience. His job was learning that unfamiliar things aren't so scary.

New surfaces, unusual objects, different environments. Each successful experience teaches a dog that they can work through challenges instead of avoiding them.

That's where real confidence comes from. Not from keeping dogs comfortable all the time.

But from helping them discover they're capable of more than they thought.

Nicely done, Ranger.

Service dog training isn't about creating dependence on the trainer.

It's about creating confidence for the handler.

We teach the dog the necessary skills, but we also teach the handler how to reinforce, maintain, and practice those skills long after the training session is over.

Because the most successful service dog teams aren't built during lessons.

They're built through consistent teamwork every day.

Great service dog teams are made, not found.

Amazing job Buster! We're super proud of how. you are able to help your person every day!

Rocky is just getting started, but that's exactly why this work matters.

Puppies don't wait until they're older to develop habits.

Every walk, every interaction, and every outing teaches them something new.

When we start leash training early, we can build engagement and good decision-making before pulling becomes a habit.

Today it's a few good steps.

Tomorrow he's a dog who understands how to move through the world with their person.

Well done, Rocky. 🐾

We were honored to be presenter at the youth camp- this is an incredible program for young people- please share this information in your communities for next year!
This camp is paid for by sponsorship through your local American Legions, Auxiliary Groups and many other Civic organizations. Its an incredible opportunity for young people!
We had a great question and answer session about what its like to handle and train K9's what its like to be on disaster deployments... And most fun, a demonstration of SAR work with Veera and Slim Shady who had a blast as always! Gary Brouse

One of the biggest mistakes owners make is expecting focus in busy environments before the dog fully understands the task.

We start in quieter places intentionally. That allows the dog to build engagement, leash awareness, and calm decision-making before distractions increase.

By the time we enter crowded spaces, the dog already understands how to stay connected to the handler instead of drifting toward strangers or becoming tangled in the environment.

Save this if public outings feel stressful with your dog.

Exploring every aisle, pulling toward people, sniffing nonstop, most owners think that’s harmless curiosity.

But in busy environments, constant environmental fixation often creates escalating arousal.

We teach dogs how to exist calmly in public without needing to engage with everything around them.

That level of neutrality creates safer, more relaxed experiences for both the dog and the owner.

Save this if you want a calmer dog in public spaces.

We’re excited to welcome 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 (CCDT-DT, CGC Evaluator) to the Cold Creek Dog Training team! With nearly 20 years of experience and a degree in Animal Behavior, Training & Enrichment from Delaware Valley University, Jen brings a strong background in both pet dog training and service dog work.

Jen has spent years training service dogs for veterans and first responders, along with helping everyday families create calm, reliable dogs at home.

We’re thrilled to have her experience, knowledge, and dedication as part of the CCDT team — and we know our clients and their dogs will be in great hands.

This is Jen and her 13 year old lab Jet....he completed his service dog program and was dropped due to his knees... He's been Jen's faithful family member and BFF for a long lifetime and still has one of the most incredible "retrieve" service commands I've ever seen!
