Behind every polished ride and winning photo is a collection of habits, mental strategies, and behind-the-scenes work that separates the good from the great. While talent plays a role, the amateurs and youth who consistently win big in the show pen share a common thread – they approach their ridin...

Home from the OQHA Weekend Roundup Open show. The JMQH crew had a fantastic weekend with many “firsts” - while some are actual first place prizes others were firsts in a different way…competing at a big show, staying overnight, riding a new horse or trying new events. 🤠🥇

I am always grateful to be able to guide these hard working horsewomen in chasing their dreams!
Everyone and came away with their own success - be that prizes or personal best rides - and more homework to keep practicing till the next show.

We are already talking about how we can’t wait to do it again next year! 🐴

Thanks to all of the volunteers who made this such a fabulous event 👏

Day 1 of showing at the OQHA Weekend Roundup is complete!

The JMQH group had some amazing results, great rides and most importantly they are having fun making memories with old and new friends!

Honestly there were an awful lot of first place ribbons among the crew today - definitely too many for my sleepy brain to list. Lots of top placings and succesful rides for our newset riders!

One big highlight though was Jessica Mosley Cairncross with Good To Be Irish winning the Champion buckle for the Level 1 Showdown Trail 🥇

Thank you to OQHA for making this such a fun welcoming experience!

Day 2 tomorrow is English and Ranch events. Good night 😴

Thank you to Area 3 Quarter Horse Promotional for putting on an excellent Summerama 2025 at the Essa Agriplex! The facilities sure make it easy to show with perfect footing and so many places to ride we were able to maximize our show prep.

These 3 ladies really had some fabulous rides with lots of learning opportunities and personal best trips in the show ring!

Congratulations to

🐸 Clare Roman & In Front Of The Line - High Point Level 1 Amateur, wins in Select Showmanship and Trail completing their goal of their ROM. 🙌

🤩 Holly Robinson & Sweet Mambo Jambo - Circuit Champion Rookie Trail and top placings in Level 1 Amateur Trail. Some real breakthroughs this weekend - so exciting! 🌟

😎 Verna Lum and Willing To Iron saw 1sts and 2nds in Level 1 and Select Equitation - really showing huge growth as a team! 💫

Always a fun way to spend Canada Day 🇨🇦 at a horse show with old friends and new!

Thank you to all of the Area 3 volunteers who work so hard to make this show enjoyable! 👏

MWHS June Show 2025

We had an excellent time at the Mid West show at REACH with sunny skies and warm temps throughout.

I am lucky enough to coach this hard working group of amateurs and guide them throughout the show. All of them have such great sportsmanship, dedication and drive - humbled to be a part of their journey. 🙏🏻

Here’s some highlights:

Robyn and Mojo made their first time to the show ring quite the success! This was Robyn’s return to showing after a 20 year hiatus and Mojo’s debut as an all around horse. They were superstars with many wins, top placings and a healthy stack of prize envelopes as well. Mojo was a good sport having to do showmanship, horsemanship, pleasure, and ranch events - a lot of new classes for this retired reiner! Wait till he sees the English saddle come out next 🤩

This show was also a debut outing for Niah and Chloe and they did a fantastic job in the English classes with steady rides and confidence building performances. Fun to see such a great legged and minded Thoroughbred join in with the stock horses and Niah’s talent and composure really shone throughout! We hope they will come out again 🙌

Victoria and Levi stepped up to the loping classes and they rocked all of their performances with many first places and taking home a nice amount of prize money too! So pleased with the progress of this team! 👏

Erica and Beau had a goal of nailing the pattern classes and they certainly did that with wins in Equitation and Ranch Trail and top placings in horsemanship, showmanship and ranch riding. Definitely seeing huge growth in this team and look forward to what comes next! 🤠

Michelle and Champ worked hard on horsemanship & ranch riding this winter and were in the top 3 Saturday in horsemanship with lots of great settled warm ups. Still working to get all the parts together in the show ring but definitely seeing how far this team has come and look forward to figuring out the puzzle pieces as we show more! 👊

Jess & Maverick had a fabulous show with many wins and a hefty amount of prize money as well. Always fantastic to have Jess at the shows and appreciate her help with making sure both horse and human hair are looking neat & tidy and ready to show! 🌟

Joy and Rosie have been digging deep into their homework and were able to see wins in showmanship & trail as well as top placings in horsemanship and pleasure. Love seeing the progress! 👌

Duke came along to the show and we tried the ranch rail with some top 5 placings and even a bit of prize money. Happy with some progress and just having fun with him 💙

Was great to connect with old friends and new - Tina Cleland (Shanks) and I showed as youth together and we enjoyed catching up this weekend!

Also had some fun times with new friends - can’t say enough about the welcoming atmosphere of these shows.

Thank you to the Mid West team who work so hard to put this all together. We thoroughly enjoyed it! 👏👏👏
