This month is Lyme Disease Prevention Month.
As the weather warms up, fleas and ticks begin to make themselves known.
Be sure to check your pet regularly for ticks and have them on a parasite prevention medication to ensure ticks are not a part of your household and to reduce the risk of Lyme disease.
Vaccines are also available from your veterinary clinic.

This week is National Dog bite Prevetion Week!

Any dog can bite! Even the sweetest cuddliest dog can bite if provoked.

Fortunately, there are several things we can do to prevent dog bites.

Dogs bite for a variety of reasons, but most commonly as a reaction to a specific situation:

* Defending themselves or their territory
* Feeling scared or startled
* Sensing a threat
* Guarding something valuable to them, like their puppies, their food, or a toy
* Feeling unwell or in pain, as when sick or injured
* Dogs also might nip and bite during play. Even though this may be fun for the dog, it can be dangerous for people if not properly managed.

National Dog Bite Prevention week happens every year in April and focuses on educating people about preventing dog bites.

Be sure to visit several websites to help you gain a better understanding of things like understanding body language in a dog and other helpful tips to avoid you or your family being one of the statistics this year.

Stay safe.
