The heat is on… and it’s not just us feeling it!

With these extreme temperatures it’s important to help keep our furry family members safe and comfortable.

Here are a few simple ways to beat the heat:
- Keep fresh, cool water available at all times.
- Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
- Test the pavement with the back of your hand, if it’s too hot for you it’s too hot for their paws.
- Provide plenty of shade and air conditioning whenever possible.
- Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
- Try frozen treats, cooling mats, or frozen toys for a refreshing way to cool down.
- Watch for signs of heatstroke including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion, or collapse.

⚠️ Heatstroke is a medical emergency. If you notice any of these signs, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact us immediately.

Summer is officially in full swing and so are the mosquitoes!

With all the recent rain mosquitoes are out in full force and we’re still seeing plenty of ticks too. Camping, hiking, fishing, and lake days are some of the best parts of summer but they also increase your pet’s risk of exposure.

We’re seeing a rise in Lyme disease and heartworm cases, and we’d love to keep those numbers down.
