"Yeah....I don't believe it"
To be fair, I didn't either.
This is one of those "hints and tips" that everyone searches for.
It also goes hand in hand with "reward what you want to see more of".

Want a dog to not jump when they are beside you?
Reward four feet on the ground.

Want your dog to be calmer?
Catch those times when your dog is naturally calmer and reward.

Are there pitfalls with this?
Of course !
Dogs that become excited by food, this needs more carefully implemented.

If you don't believe this will work...try it.

Try giving them a reward or two or four when you notice them resting (not sleeping) just when they are naturally doing nothing.

They may get up and investigate if you have more....but watch what happens when they start to "figure it out".
It can take a few weeks for some.

How do you know it's working?

Watch them start to choose calm.
They’ll lie down more. Stay close by more. Settle more easily

We are also giving them clarity with what we want, while following the golden rule of dog training.......

The Dream: Working with Animals

I am a big animal lover which is why I have decided to open my home to the comfort, love, and security that your fur baby needs while you are away.

I have a form for potential attendees so that I can get a better sense of your four-legged friend and prepare for their arrival. Pet owner’s will receive daily updates as well as pictures/videos.

I also provide stop-ins where I will let your dog outside to go do their business, freshen their water bowl, play for a bit (10-15 minutes), giving baths, brushing, changing litter boxes, feeding fish, etc. And lastly, I provide a dog walking service.

I am currently taking a course in the natural health care for pets to gain more knowledge about the wellness of animals and the alternative natural remedies to help aid/heal them. I believe that we as pet owner's should be just as conscious about what our animals are consuming as we are with ourselves.
