Hello everyone... this may be a little lengthy but I feel if I get more prayers the better the outcome. Not many of you know that I have relocated to Wawa due to Cory's job. I lived on my sailboat with my dog all summer and little did I know that their existed this fungi that's causes a severe Fungal infection in dogs and humans. Unfortunately my 6 month old labrador retriever came into contact and inhaled the deadly spores. This fungal infection is called Blastomycosis. Now if I may... let me tell you a little about my situation so you can all understand what I have been through in the past 8 months. I had to put down my 2 Akitas Jade and Kane,(hence the name Jake in memory of them.) Then we got another pup. His name was Rosko. He was a beautiful dog and I fell head over heals for them. His tempermant was perfect for us. Two weeks after getting Rosko he became deathly ill. I spent 10 horrible days praying for him to make it. He was brought to the vet and tested for Parvo and it was negative. He was admitted for 3 days on IV and pain meds then the Vet in Iroquois falls had to leave to work in Toronto so I picked up Rosko and brought him home. I stayed up all night giving him subcutaneous fluids but Rosko was just too weak. He died in my arms the following morning. Of course I took it hard. The vet in Iroquois falls thought It was a genetic disorder. If anyone knows me they know that I never want to live a day without a dog. I have PTSD and I find so much comfort it a dog. For me it's a must. Immediately I started looking for another dog and I found Charlie. I had Charlie for 5 days then he started feeling sick. Panic set in! I called all over and could not get any vet appointment that day unless I drove to New Liskard. So off I went. Again before they would take my pup in the building they came out to test him for Parvo and it was negative. They decided to treat it for Parvo anyway. So again I nursed all night and day. Finally we had a super healthy pup. Charlie was very fortunate to survive. Ok here comes the part where I am almost embarrassed to say. The pup just did not fit us. He was very aggressive and it honestly scared me to have my grandkids over and beacuse I just spent the last ten and a half years with two dogs that were aggressive towards certain dogs, my fear was bigger. I have worked with many dogs as most of you know we owed a kennel. So I was just trusting my gutt. We found a home with a dog that was just as energetic as him and he is doing well. I constantly get updates. He is so handsome and well behaved. Voila perfect fit. Thank You God my Father!!! So this is why I have Jake my angel. 5 DAYS LATER!!! Jake falls ill . I finally got a vet in Timmins! Brought Jake to the vet and this time the test said positive for PARVO. I felt like an absolute idiot for trusting the tests!! So I treated him for a week with parvo and on the fifth day I really thought he wouldn't make it...but he did like the champ he is. I honestly only had to tell Jake one time not to p*e on the floor and presto!!!! Potty trained!!! Never in my life have I witnessed that! Put a piece of steak in front of his face and told him no he hesitate a moment and tried to take it. I said NO louder and that was it....I could walk away for 15 minutes and that steak wasn't eaten! Good BoY JaKe! And of course all the other common tricks. I had really bonded with Jake the first time I held him. "Those killer eyebrows" Love at first sight! 😍 Blastomycosis is NOT A JOKE!!! And I feel that if an erea is prone to this bacteria people should be told and educated about this fungi.Trust me they know about it. There is a 50 to 75% survival rate. There have been soooooo many vet appointments for different tests, the cost of the dogs, all the hundreds of dollars in medical supplies, just one of his medications cost us 450.00 a month that He will have to be monitored on for a possible year. Thats not including his other meds. I tried to get pet insurance for Jake but he had to be clear of any medical condition for 30 days. We didn't make it in time to qualify. We have spent over 12,000 since February all because ,this girl, can't live without a dog. It is breaking my heart to to see what is happening to Jake. This is a brutal infection. I am asking my friends and family to pray for Jake who is fighting like a champ! He has made small but HUGE improvements. The vet says He still feels hopeful but can't promise that he will survive. Jake will require alot more treatment and as long as he is improving, we will help with the fight!!! Can you please help us by sharing Jake's go fund me page.

We sad to announce that Cozy Kennels has closed and has been sold to new people. Who will not be reopening the kennel. It has been our pleasure serving you. We will surely miss our fur baby family so feel free to keep us posted on how they are doing. Once again thank you all so much!
