Kidding Season

Our passion extends to hobby farming, our busy season is about to start. Raising Nigerian Dwarf goats can be very rewarding. With three does waddling around waiting to have their litters of kids. Yes litters! triplets, quads and even quints can keep us very busy making sure every little mouth has had enough to eat and time with mom. The kids are about 3 to 5 lbs when they are born. In the first week they are very cuddly, the second week they find their legs and start to pop around everywhere, walking is not even an option. By week 3 they are little devils running in circles waiting for nap time.

With such small babies on the farm our Livestock Guardian dogs are keep busy making sure nothing threatening enters the property. They keep on eye on the new babies and even let us know when one has strayed to far from the herd.

So with everything going on, I am up late keeping an eye on the overdue Does. Assistance may even be needed, so please be patient if I am late or need a closer mid day to help with an emergency situation.
