Sometimes, behind every intake, there is a story that breaks your heart.
Recently, we welcomed three cats into our care after their owner sadly passed away. Their world was turned upside down overnight, and while they are safe now, each of them arrived carrying the physical and emotional effects of everything they have been through.
💙 Max is the sweetest gentleman you could ever meet. He was already neutered and is a manx, meaning he has no tail! All Max wants is love, pets, and someone to tell him everything is going to be okay. When he arrived, his coat was severely matted along his sides, he was battling a skin infection, and he was covered in ear mites. Max has since been shaved, started on antibiotics, and is finally beginning to feel more comfortable. We are hopeful he will make a speedy recovery and get back to feeling like himself again.
🩷 Penelope came to us with an extra surprise - she had given birth to three beautiful kittens just a day or two before entering our care. Thankfully, this devoted momma was in much better physical condition than the boys, with no matting and a healthy coat. She has been an incredible mother from the start, and both she and her babies are doing wonderfully. Her kittens will be available for pre-adoption before July 20th, when they reach 8 weeks of age. Once the babies are weaned, Penelope will be spayed and will then begin her search for a forever home of her own.
🖤 Bane is a neutered male who has clearly been struggling with the stress of recent events. He is experiencing significant hair loss throughout his body, likely stress-related, and while he wasn't matted, he arrived with a large abscess on his neck caused by a cat bite. The wound required aggressive treatment, including being opened right up, cleaned, and drained. Bane felt pretty miserable afterward for several days, but thanks to his loving foster family, plenty of TLC, and a course of antibiotics, he is already showing signs of improvement.
While these three have experienced tremendous loss and change, they are now surrounded by people who care deeply about them and are committed to helping them heal.
Once Max and Bane are well on their way to recovery, we will begin accepting adoption applications for them. For now, they need time, patience, and lots of love.
Thank you to our fosters, supporters, and community members who make it possible for animals like these to have a second chance when they need it most. ❤️
