National Rescue Dog Day 🐶

Today we celebrate the incredible dogs who were given a second chance - and the families who opened their hearts and homes to them.💞🏡🐾

Why rescue dogs are so special:
• They show amazing resilience and gratitude
• They can make wonderful, loving family companions
• Adoption helps reduce overcrowding in shelters and rescues
• Every rescued dog creates space for another animal in need

Rescue dogs may come from different backgrounds, but with patience, love, routine, and proper veterinary care, they can thrive and live happy, healthy lives. Regular wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and dental care all play an important role in helping rescue pets feel their best.

Adopt. Love. Save a life. 🐕

Thank you to all the rescue organizations, foster families, and pet parents who help give these dogs the bright futures they deserve.

Drop a photo of your rescue pup in the comments - we’d love to celebrate them with you! 📸❤️

Tick Check Reminder for Pets & People🕷️🌿

As tick season ramps up, we want to remind everyone that ticks don’t just stay on pets - they can crawl through fur and hitch a ride onto humans, too. 😬

Even pets on tick prevention can still pick up ticks. Some preventatives require the tick to bite before it dies, and others don’t repel ticks right away. That means ticks may still be found crawling in your pet’s fur - we’ve even seen cases just this past week, where ticks have ended up on people after just touching their pets.

🔍 What you can do:
• Check your pets after being outdoors
• Check yourself, too — especially after walks or hikes
• Be extra cautious in wooded, tall grassy, or bushy areas

🧻 Helpful tip: Sticky lint rollers are great for picking up tiny nymph-stage ticks before they latch on - especially on clothing, pets’ fur, and gear!

Consistent prevention, daily checks, and a quick once-over can go a long way in keeping both pets and people safe! 💚

🐾 Arthritis in Pets: What Every Pet Parent Should Know 🐾

Did you know that arthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain in dogs and cats - especially as they age? The good news is that arthritis is manageable, and early support can make a big difference in your pet’s comfort and quality of life.

🦴 Common signs of arthritis include:
• Slowing down on walks or playtime
• Difficulty jumping, climbing stairs, or getting up
• Stiffness after rest or in the morning
• Changes in mood, irritability, or withdrawing
• Less interest in activities they once loved

⚠️ Cats are especially good at hiding pain, so subtle changes matter!

💙 How we can help - Arthritis care often includes a combination of:
• Weight management
• Joint supplements and therapeutic diets
• Lifestyle adjustments and mobility support
• Pain management and anti-inflammatory medications

✨ With the right plan, many pets can stay active, comfortable, and enjoy life!

If you’ve noticed any changes in your pet’s movement or behavior, talk to your veterinary team. Early intervention can help keep every step a good one.🐕🐈

Friends Friday!! 🐾💞🤗

How adorable are these guys?!🩵

We loved having Missy, Milo and little Daisy into our clinic earlier this week!!

They all did amazing for their vaccines and left feeling happy, healthy, and full of purrs and tail wags! 🐱🐱🐶

Vaccines are an important part of keeping our pets protected from preventable diseases and helping them live long, healthy lives. 💉

We’re so proud of these brave furry friends for doing such a great job!🌟

Have you recently found a tick on your dog that’s had a blood meal?🕷️

Is your pet on a preventative with Heartworm coverage? 💊

If your answer is yes, this is why a 4DX Test matters for your dog! 🐕

🩸4DX is a simple in-house blood test that checks for:
• Lyme disease
• Anaplasmosis
• Ehrlichiosis
• Heartworm disease

Testing is Important for many reasons including:

• Early Detection - Identifies exposure to Lyme disease before symptoms appear, allowing for prompt monitoring or treatment.

• Quick & Convenient - Results are available the same day - no long wait times!

• Supports Diagnosis - Helps rule in or rule out Lyme disease when pets show signs like lameness, fever, or lethargy.

• Prevention Selection - To ensure pets are heartworm negative before starting on certain preventatives, which ensures medication options are safe and protects pets from complications.

• Better Treatment Decisions - Results guide your veterinarian on next steps, such as additional testing or starting an appropriate treatment plan.

Know more, worry less, with 4DX!! 🐶

National Heartworm Awareness Month❤️🦟

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that affects both dogs and cats. The good news? It’s highly preventable with simple, consistent care.

Heartworm is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Just one bite is all it takes. 🦟

⚠️Why is Heartworm Disease So Dangerous?
• Causes damage to the heart, lungs, and blood vessels
• May lead to coughing, fatigue, weight loss, breathing difficulty
• Can be fatal if left untreated
• Treatment in dogs is long, expensive, and carries risks

Prevention Is the Best Protection!

⭐️Before starting or restarting heartworm prevention, it is recommended that dogs have a routine blood test (4DX) to ensure they are heartworm-negative. This protects your pet from complications and ensures the prevention is safe.

Heartworm disease is preventable, but once infected, the disease can be devastating. By staying consistent with prevention and routine testing, you’re giving your pet the best chance at a long, healthy life.♥️

🕷️ Prevention of Lyme Disease in Dogs 🕷️

Lyme disease is a serious illness transmitted through the bite of infected ticks (Ixodes Scapulas, deer tick or black legged tick) and can affect both pets and people. Protecting your dog starts with prevention!

🛡️ How to Keep Your Dog Safe:

• Use veterinarian-recommended tick preventatives year-round to repel and kill ticks before they can transmit disease.
• Check your dog daily (especially after walks) for ticks around the ears, neck, armpits, groin and between the toes.
• Remove ticks promptly and properly using fine-tipped tweezers or a tick remover.
• Avoid high-risk areas like tall grass, wooded trails, and leaf piles where ticks thrive.
• Keep your yard tidy by mowing grass regularly and removing debris.
• Consider Lyme vaccination if your dog is at higher risk - talk to your veterinarian.

Early prevention is key! Staying consistent with tick prevention helps keep your dog happy, healthy, and protected all year long!

If you know your pet has had a tick present and that tick has had a blood meal, 4DX testing is recommended 4-6 weeks after the tick bite.

The 4DX test is a simple in-clinic blood test that screens for several serious tick-borne diseases - including Lyme disease—helping veterinarians catch infections early and keeping your pet healthy.
