I could have walked over and helped her but we need to build resiliency in our dogs and the ability to work through problems. She got herself in, she can get herself out. Watch to the end and see how proud she is of herself when she finally figures it out.

Yesterday we started some leash and long line work with 14 week old Nova. It’s imperative that your dog understand that they can control the leash pressure. They don’t have to feel it all but if they do they know how to turn it off. Too many owners put a collar and leash on their puppy and start getting dragged around the neighbourhood. As much as leash pressure is uncomfortable for dogs, if they don’t know they have an option they will just pull through. This video is from a one hour session and you can already see the changes. Nova is more focused and aware of her owner and happier to follow. We didn’t correct the puppy, we let the puppy create the pressure and then showed her how to shut it off. #
