Say hello to the adorable Maple 🍁

Maple unfortunately had to visit HREVC because she thought her humans phone charger would be a delicious treat!

Upon an exam and speaking to the owner, it appeared that only a small piece of the charger was missing and that we had to induce vomiting to begin treatment in an attempt to remove the small piece she had ate.

Fortunately for Maple, she was not the culprit of the missing piece however, unfortunately for Maple’s mom, she will need to purchase a new phone charger. ☹️

Please contact your Veterinarian right away if you believe your animals may have ingested something they should not have, as there is only a small timeframe where we can attempt to induce vomiting to try and remove the foreign item.

Upon discharge at HREVC, your Veterinarian may often prescribe a prescription for you to take home.
Some animals, may have no issue receiving medications orally while others, may have a more difficult time.

For dogs, more often than not, hiding the medication in food or a pill pocket treat will do the trick. For cats, it’s often easier to open their mouth, place the medication as far back as possible in the mouth and shutting the mouth to encourage swallowing.

For those taking medications home, we often send out clients home with a pilling device: a long plastic tube with a plunger at the end, this allows you to get the medication far into the mouth.

Feel free to ask your veterinarian professional about your animals individual needs.

Have you ever been to HREVC and witnessed our lamp lit up in our waiting area?

When this lamp is lit, it means that someone is saying goodbye to their beloved pet. If you see this lamp lit we ask that everyone remain respectful to the owners saying goodbye to their family member by keeping a a quiet voice.

We thank you all for your understanding and compassion during such a difficult time.

Rest well to all the fur babies who have crossed the rainbow bridge 🌈 🐾

Here is a fun case we saw here at HREVC, something we don’t see regularly.

Say hello to Totoro!

This precious little boy came to see us today because he had a botfly! (Cuterebra)

Have you heard of Cuterebra before?

They are a fuzzy bumblebee looking insect
that capture blood-sucking insects and lay eggs on pets or people. The eggs multiply, and can spread when left untreated.

Larvae will grow from the eggs and burrow into the skin through the bite opening and begin to inhabit in the skin, living off of the skin of the host.

Typically you will see the hole formed in the hosts skin, which you can see on Totoro’s lower neck.

Fortunately, when attended to quickly by a Veterinarian, your fluffy friend will have an easy recovery.

Totoro was sent home with some antibiotics to aid with wound healing, he is set up for a recheck for some preventative treatment with his family Veterinarian.

The last photo shows how happy he was, he also made the team at HREVC melt ❤️

We wish you the best little one. We are so glad we were able to help!
