We know Premier Houston loves his pets. I wonder what he would do if his landlord suddenly said that he'd have to get rid of them or move out?

A few weeks ago we sent letters to all 55 Nova Scotia MLAs asking them to introduce legislation to ban "no pets" policies in rental agreements. Here's a copy of the response we received from Honourable Colton LeBlanc, Minister of Service Nova Scotia.

Although he's reluctant to support legislation we do commend Minister LeBlanc for taking the time to address our concerns. We will continue to lobby his department in the hopes that he will change his mind on this important issue.

In the meantime, we recommend that you follow his advice and register an application with the Residential Tenancies Office if you're affected by a new "no pets" policy. It may help you avoid the heartbreaking decision between giving up your pet or your apartment.

We recently sent letters to all 55 of Nova Scotia's MLAs asking them to support a ban on "no pets" clauses in rental agreements. I'm pleased to say that Gary Burrill of the Nova Scotia NDP Party tabled a bill in the legislature today that would end the practice. Now is the time to contact your MLA and urge them to support this bill so no more people will be faced with the decision to give up their pet or lose their home. Pets are family too!
