I might be known for my calm vibes, but behind the scenes, I am doing a full-on celebratory dance for this girl! Watching Tullo rock this chin rest is everything.
It looks like a simple move, but there is so much going on behind the scenes. Here is the truth about what it takes to get here:
1️⃣ It takes time. Sometimes months! Building trust is the most important part of my job. We don’t rush the process; we move at the dog's pace. If we need to spend weeks just hanging out before the tools even come out, that’s exactly what we do.
2️⃣ "No" is a full sentence. It sounds backwards, but honouring a "stop" is actually the secret to getting a "yes." When Tullo knows she has the power to opt-out, she finds the confidence to opt-in.
3️⃣ Teamwork makes the dream work. This isn't something I’m doing to her; it’s something I’m doing with her. When we stop treating body handling like a chore and start treating it like a conversation, the fear disappears and the real magic happens.
Seeing that lightbulb go off is why I do what I do. Cooperative care isn't just about the "procedure"—it’s about the partnership!
