Hi, I’m Susie, founder of Peaceful Passing, and I want to share my story with you because I think it matters. 🖤
Before this was a business, these were simply the appointments I kept gravitating toward: the quiet rooms, the emotional conversations, the moments where families needed someone to sit with them through heartbreak and uncertainty.
While many vets would (understandably) avoid end-of-life work, I felt pulled to it.
For me, those moments were full of purpose, because even in the hardest moments, I realized how much impact could be made in a very short amount of time simply by showing up gently, honestly, and compassionately.
“This is your calling,” I would hear from families, co-workers, and friends.
At the time, mobile end-of-life veterinary care was barely known in Ontario. Most people didn’t even realize this kind of support could happen at home.
But I couldn’t shake the feeling that families deserved another option.
So, I persisted. I persisted when those around me didn’t fully understand the vision. I persisted when I was doing everything myself for years: house calls, receptionist duties, marketing, bookkeeping, IT, weekends, holidays, seven days a week on-call care.
For the first 8 years, Peaceful Passing was entirely me. I became a mom to my third and, slowly, the most incredible people came into my life and helped me grow this business into something bigger than I ever imagined.
Today, our team continues to grow with one goal:
making peaceful, compassionate end-of-life care more accessible to pets and families across all of Ontario.
And after all these years, Peaceful Passing’s original tagline still hits deeply: even the saddest day can be beautiful.
My goal, after almost 12 years in business, is still to provide the highest level of compassionate care. Animals deserve a peaceful send-off and their families deserve to be supported without judgment.
We are available 24/7, 365 days a year, because life is unpredictable, and we will do whatever we can to be there for you when you need us!
I’m so grateful I persisted!
xx
