🐾Hoppy Easter!🐾
A friendly reminder that the clinic will be closed this Good Friday. Remember to be mindful about chocolate around pets this holiday season as it is toxic for them to ingest. We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter holiday with their family, friends, and furbabies!

🐾Warm weather is finally here!🐾 That means fleas, ticks and mosquitos are too! We encourage pet parents to start picking up prevention medication if they haven’t already and schedule heartworm and tick-borne disease testing. Since it is such a busy season, we ask that you call ahead or email to pick up these medications so as to accommodate the influx of requests. We also now have a link on our website for medication refills, including prevention refills!

🎉 After 30 years at Grimsby Animal Hospital, Charlene is retiring! ❤️

After three decades as a receptionist, Charlene is stepping into a new chapter with mixed emotions — excitement for the future but also a deep sense of missing the clients, pets, and friendships she’s built over the years.

"I've had the privilege of working with incredible clients and their beloved pets, and I've built lasting relationships with many of you. I'll miss the daily interactions, the familiar faces, and the comforting presence of the animals I've cared for. I've shared in your joys and comforted you in your sorrows, and I’ll cherish those memories forever."

As Charlene looks forward to focusing on her health and spending more time with her grandchildren, we hope you'll stop by to wish her well before her last day on March  28.❤️

💖 The rest of our amazing team will still be here to support you and your pets — the familiar faces you know and trust aren't going anywhere!

🐾Happy Friday from Dodger!🐾Did you know that indoor cats are just as much at risk for parasites as outdoor cats? Factors such as dogs and even our own clothes can bring fleas or ticks into the home! Fleas actually thrive in indoor environments, even under hardwood floors. Prevention is key in fending off those pesky parasites!

🐾Happy National Love your Pet day!❤️🐾 While our pets always get the love and affection they deserve, take today to especially give them that extra special treat or some additional snuggles. Walter sure felt the love today with Dr. Oliver while sitting atop a throne for his appointment! Well, Walter sure thought it was a throne!

🐾Happy Meowentines Day! ❤️🐾 We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable day with their Valentine’s and got some well deserved treats!💕 In honour of Valentine’s day, we thought we’d share some fun ways that animals show love!
🐾Did you know that when penguins try to impress a female, they find the smoothest pebble to present to her as a gift? If the female approves of the males gift, she will put the pebble in her nest!
🐾Cats show love by giving slow blinks!
🐾Sea Otters hold hands when they fall asleep in the water so they do not drift apart!

Join us in wishing a very happy 70th birthday to Sue on February 12! 🥳🎂 But that’s not all—after an incredible 36 years with Grimsby Animal Hospital, Sue will be retiring at the end of February.

Sue first joined us in 1989, working behind the scenes in surgery before moving to the front desk during COVID. If you’ve visited us, chances are Sue has greeted you with a warm smile and likely even remembered your pet’s name from years past! 🐾💙

A true cat lover, Sue has cared for many felines over the years, from rescues to her beloved ragdolls. She’s been an essential part of our team, training staff, assisting in surgery, and even providing gentle grooming for kitties who need an extra special touch.

We are so grateful for Sue’s dedication, kindness, and the lasting impact she’s made on our team, clients, and pets over the years. Please join us in celebrating her birthday and upcoming retirement by leaving a message below! ⬇️💬

🐾Meet Oppie!🐾 Oppie is a recently adopted mini bernedoodle. Since February is dental month, we thought we’d highlight some safe ways to introduce mouth health to your puppy (and kitten)!

🐾Safely introducing teeth brushing is effective for all pet health. Allow your puppy or kitten to chew the brush at first- you don’t want them to be scared of it!

🐾 Slowly introduce toothpaste by adding small amounts at a time.

🐾Avoid hard chews that you cannot leave an imprint on with your fingernail. Hard chews such as antlers can break and chip teeth, leading to pain and possible extractions.

🐾Only use dental chews, treats, and food with the VOHC seal of approval. This means the product has gone through several tests to ensure efficacy and safety for your pet

We look forward to sharing more dental month information with you throughout the month of February!

🐾Snow dog alert!🐾 Taaga was such a good boy for his senior examination and vaccines but was quite eager to go home and play in the snow! Did you know, in 1925, Siberian Huskies brought life-saving serum to fight a diphtheria epidemic in Alaska by sledding almost 1000km away in the snow? (Source- The American Kennel Club). Now that’s a snow dog!
