Cricket originally came to us as a stray. When no owner came forward, we worked on getting her ready for adoption, which included providing her with medical attention. During this time, the veterinarian diagnosed Cricket with having entropion, a condition where the eyelids turn inward and rub up against the eye, causing pain. If left untreated, entropion can result in damage to the eye. Treatment for this condition is surgery, to correct the eyelids.
As a Municipal Pound, the Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter cannot fundraise and instead, we rely on partnerships with not-for-profit shelters and rescues. In Cricket's case, we partnered up with the Timmins and District Humane Society who graciously agreed to take Cricket in and provide her with her much needed surgery. Unfortunately, it was also discovered that Cricket had an old knee injury, specifically to her cruciate ligament. This injury will also require surgery to correct the issue.
Cricket is now in the care of the Timmins and District Humane Society, who are currently fundraising for her much needed surgery. We are sharing this information on their behalf, in the hopes that our residents will consider contributing to Cricket's care.
