On today's episode of give humom a heart attack, we have Cypress. Cypress has never been a weird sleeper. Until today. So when I came in to give the boys breakfast and was greeted by this, my heart leeped a little. His brother Spruce was actually pushing him out of the tunnel and Cypress being much bigger was not moving. Lol. There isn't a single day where these rats don't crack me up. Or give me a heart attack. Lol

(not for adoption) My little Mochi is growing back her fuzz. Mochi is a variety of fancy rat that frequently molts her fur and it grows back in shifting patterns. She was as bald as a babies bum when I brought her and her sister home and now she feels like velvet with all her fuzz coming back. She's a Siamese werewolf as you can tell by her dark points on her nose, ears, paws and rump. She is a speed popcorning little energy ball while her sister is a bit calmer. In all seriousness though, it's not people's pet rats that are spreading hantavirus. By nature, rats are very clean and with proper husbandry, they remain so throughout their short lives. It's most commonly spread through deer mice for us north americans and other clusters of rodents in the wild. It is not spread from person to person except for the south american Andes virus. This is also one of the major reasons why I quarantine any newcomer surrenders in a separate room and usually on a different level of the house. Ideally it would be a separate building but this is not feasible to a small scale rescue like mine. I hate that the news has radicalized this irrational fear when so many of us are trying to educate people on these misunderstood sweethearts.

It's been a few since I last posted. A week after losing the 2 girls, I lost one of my favorite boys, Hopper, in my arms unexpectedly. But where there is rain, there will be sunshine. I took in 4 super sweet older girls surrendered by their loving owner. You can tell they were well loved. Life happens. Finances can change in a heartbeat and she made the difficult decision to have them live out their lives here. And am I ever lucky to have them. They LOVE giving kisses. Omg all the kisses! The kissiest babies ever! Not shy at all. But has one question... Can she speak to you about your car's extended warranty?
