I am proud to be a second generation Peace Country Beekeeper! So what's new for 2017?

As many of you may know I grew up on a large scale certified organic bee farm in Grovedale Alberta. I spent every summer for as long as I can remember working the bees with my dad, uncles, friends, neighbors, foreign workers and whoever else we could get to help us out. Those were long days of hot, intense, backbreaking work and I loved it! Years later I found I missed the bees and yearned to run

my own hives. That time finally came when my husband and I moved onto an acreage on the city limits of Grande Prairie. The goal of this new bee operation was to make it as simple and enjoyable as possible and the bees rewarded me more than I ever expected! In 2014 the Cottage industry of Hahny Bee Honey was started. I've had so much fun over the past 3 years with the bees, with working with my dad and uncle again, with teaching my own kids, with working with some pretty awesome local Health food stores and coffee shops, and getting to know all the wonderful customers, who have responded so well that I now sell out every year just before the spring honey starts to flow. I love having the opportunity to share this journey with you through my page and when you stop by and I drag you out to my Bee house to see the bees fly! We are so excited to be incorporating Flowhive technology into our operation. This new technology fits in so perfectly with our vision....being gentle on our bees and producing the highest quality natural products. Stay tuned for updates and pics! Also, now that the bees have accepted the honeycomb equipment we are hoping to have a lot more comb honey for sale this coming year! Made with wild-harvested dandelion-infused oil, these bars harness the soothing and anti-inflammatory properties of dandelions—perfect for dry, rough, or irritated skin.

Great for:
• Dry hands, elbows, legs, heels
• After gardening or outdoor work
• On-the-go hydration

To Use:
Warm the bar in your hands or glide directly onto dry skin. Massage in as needed.

In honor of National Bee day I’d like to share my FAVOURITE frozen peanut butter pie recipe 😋 sweetened only with the good stuff. 🍯

Peanut Butter Pie

Crust
1 1/2 cups graham crumbs
5 tbsp melted butter
1tbsp Liquid Hahny
Melt butter in medium bowl mix in Hahny and then pour in graham crumbs combine until crumbs are moistened. Press into 9" pie plate or spring form pan. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Or if you are impatient like me throw in freezer for 30mins haha

Filling
1pkg cream cheese
1 cup creamy peanut butter ( mine had salt in it but if yours does not add 1/4 tsp sea or Himalayan salt)
3/4 cup liquid Hahny
1 tbsp vanilla.
1 1/4 cup whipping cream
Beat first 4 ingredients together until well combined and fluffy. Set aside. Beat cream until stiff peaks form. Fold whipped cream into peanut butter mixture until no white streaks remain. Pour filling into prepared pie plate and freeze until solid. I topped mine with honey sweetened whipped cream, honey roasted peanuts and Hahny chocolate sauce

Happiest Mother’s Day to all the Queen bees out there!! And of course especially to my momma! She has been just the best mom and Omi! there is a funny story behind this picture - up until this point my kids had never met a pie they didn’t like and their little hopeful faces bring me to tears with laughter. I think they expected the merengue to taste like whip cream but oh no hahaha 😂 it was not a hit.
So I guess to the wins and loses of motherhood and grandmother hood! Cheers 🥂
