“A New Chapter Begins 🐾
After 15 wonderful years with Lucy and 10 with Leroy, whose spirits are still very much with me, I'm opening my heart to a new companion. Meet Lenny - curious, cuddly, and already making this house a home again. No one could ever replace Leroy and Lucy, but love isn’t a limited thing. Here's to new purrs, new memories, and the quiet joy of companionship. 💛
Here’s how it came to be 🐾
Two days after saying goodbye to my sweet Lucy, I found myself at the SPCA donating some of her things. While I was there, I visited the cat rooms. That totally wasn't planned. It was quite a spontaneous thing. I was surprised when I heard myself asking if they had many cats there, and they sure did. In the very last room I visited, I saw this little tabby cat with the biggest eyes and the sweetest little expressive face that just seemed to speak to me. He was rubbing his face against the cage, and something told me to pick him up. The staff said he had just arrived there the night before and was new to the shelter. I reached into his cage and picked him up. He immediately snuggled in with his head on my shoulder. My friend who was with me said, “Oh, he really likes you!” It was closing time for the SPCA, so I said goodbye.
Fast forward 48 hours, and he’s in my car, coming for a “trial” on the weekend.
I wasn’t looking to replace Lucy, but just trying to find a way to fill a little bit of the quiet space she left behind, and this little sweetheart needed a home. I knew I had lots of love left to give him.
So this little guy, named Dobby, walked in here, and he was instantly at home. Within 15 minutes, he was lying on the couch like he had been here forever. He has explored every inch of this house. There literally isn’t a corner he hasn’t checked out. When I went to bed that night, he had followed me to bed and was curled up on the bottom of the bed. I couldn’t believe he felt that comfortable. Somehow, I think he knew he was “home.” He slept all night, sometimes on the bed and sometimes on the window perch over the bed. I’ve gotten more head bops than I can count. He’s played hard all weekend. He has a lot of toys to explore. He’s super clean over his litter box. He enjoys his meals. He loves to lie on me and snuggle. He loves to lie on the arms of the couches. He loves being groomed. He loved everyone he met on the weekend. He really is just a little lover. In a nutshell, he is just PURR-fect!
This new little one isn't a replacement - just a continuation of the love I had for Leroy and Lucy, who spent so many years by my side. Grief and joy are coexisting now as I open my home and heart to a new chapter. So that sweet, gentle soul with the big, curious eyes and a soft purr that somehow felt familiar is now home to stay. ❤️
Welcome home, Lenny George Finch 🐾 His fancy cat name is Leonardo George DiCATprio, and he’ll be called Lenny! ❤️🐾 🏡”
