💗 Sweet Eva came in for lameness, she was walking on 3 legs. 😢
Eva had a history of shifting leg lameness meaning lame on a front leg one day then a back leg another day, along with some recent vomiting, diarrhea and little appetite. 😢
On the physical exam, Eva had a fever, very uncomfortable on her legs, and swollen lymph nodes.😢 Blood work, complete with an Idexx 4Dx test.
The 4Dx test came up positive for Lyme Disease and Anaplasmosis. Both of these diseases are transmitted to dogs from ticks 🪳. They are treated much the same way and the symptoms 🤢 🤒🌡️are very much identical as well. And usually there are multiple symptoms present.
Most common symptoms:
* Fever
* Lameness, especially more than one legs
* Swollen legs/joints
* Swollen lymph nodes
* Lethargy
* Vomiting and/or diarrhea
Eva had a tick(s) at some point attached to her body somewhere and had contracted these diseases from the tick(s). She is currently on treatment and hopefully will be feeling better soon.
FYI Ticks, Fleas and other parasites are still active and pets should be on prevention/protection medications year round❣️
