🐾Bringing Your Puppy Home: What to Expect (And Why You're Doing Great!)
ATTENTION NEW PUPPY OWNERS (and soon-to-be ones!)
Let’s take a deep breath and talk about something really important - realistic expectations for those first few weeks at home with your new puppy.
You’ve seen the videos. Puppies happily playing with their littermates, wagging their tails, cozy with the breeder’s pack. They look confident, social, and easy-going.
And then… you bring your pup home.
Suddenly they’re crying at night. They're shy around visitors. They freeze on leash or refuse to eat. And you might find yourself wondering:
“What happened to the perfect puppy I picked?”
Let us reassure you — this is completely normal.
🐾 What Your Puppy Is Going Through
Your puppy was born into a world that made sense:
- Familiar smells
- A daily routine
- Mom, siblings, and a breeder they trusted
Now imagine:
You wake up in a completely different country, where no one speaks your language. The food is new, the smells are unfamiliar, and everyone is trying to hug you. You’d need a minute too, right?
That’s your puppy’s world right now.
🐾 How You Can Help
Here’s what you can do to make the transition easier:
✅ Give it time. Most puppies take 2–4 weeks to feel settled - sometimes longer. That’s normal.
✅ Limit guests. Hold off on puppy parties for the first couple of weeks.
✅ Keep things calm. Ask any visitors to let the puppy come to them. No squealing, chasing, or sudden grabs.
✅ Stick to a routine. Consistency helps your puppy feel safe.
✅ Small space, big comfort. Restrict your puppy to one or two rooms at first - too much freedom can be overwhelming.
✅ Don't expect leash walks yet. Practice indoors or in your yard. Let them drag the leash and reward calm steps.
✅ Supervise kids closely. Teach children how to be gentle and respect the puppy’s space.
✅ Train together. Gentle, positive training builds trust and helps your puppy see you as their safe person.
✅ Watch for stress. Upset tummies, clinginess, or nervousness are all ways a puppy might express overwhelm. That’s not bad behavior - it’s adjustment.
🐾 The Big Takeaway?
Patience, love, and consistency matter more than perfection.
Your Rosebull puppy was raised with heart. We believe in their potential - and yours. The adjustment period is real, but it leads to one of the most rewarding relationships you’ll ever have.
Love your puppy gently and steadily, and they’ll return it a hundredfold.
