As of January 2020 Friends of Animals has closed their doors and is no longer in operation. We thank everyone in our community and surrounding area for all the support they have given our organization over the years.

🐾🐾 A HUGE THANK YOU FOR MANY YEARS OF SUPPORT 🐾🐾

At this time Friends of Animals would like to thank all the people in the Rainy River District and surrounding areas, the Rainy River Veterinary Hospital, Borderland Humane Society, Paws and Claws in the Falls, First Nations Communities, the Rescues from Thunder Bay, Kenora, Dryden, Ignace, Winnipeg, Atikokan, and the many, many others for all the help and support they have given us through the years. It is time to pass the reins to another Rescue to carry on where we left off. Rainy River District Animal Rescue will be operating in our place and I am sure will provide the services needed to help our furry friends that are in need. We are working together with Rainy River District Animal Rescue to provide a smooth transition of services. Any donations that are received by Friends of Animals intended to be used towards the animals in need will be given to the new rescue for their use towards that goal. Any items Friends of Animals has in its possession ie. Crates, food, collars, leashes, blankets etc will be donated to R.R. District. Animal Rescue for their use as well as a monetary donation from Friends of Animals to help them get on their feet. Contact information, phone numbers , etc. of the new Rescue will be passed on to the public as soon as we receive it. We would like to wish Rainy River Animal Rescue the best of luck in the future and hope the communities support them as they have supported Friends of Animals in the past.

Please when filling out an application for adoption PLEASE fill it out completely even add info to give us a better picture where the pup is going..... full names of yourself and spouse/partner, where employed and even a reference helps as well. It just help us to find good homes for our little fur babies.

Applications not filled out completely will not be considered.

🔺🐾🔺 ANIMAL ABUSE & NEGLECT 🔺🐾🔺

If you run into a situation where you find a neglected animal, abused and mistreated please know that we will do all that we can to help. However, we are volunteers and have no authority when it comes to legal situations. We can contact the people and see if we can help in any way, offer food and care and even offer to take the animal into care and rehome. But with out the acceptance of help from the family we are helpless. That is when we ask you to call the OPP Animal Help Number at 1-833-926-4625.

Please, please get your dogs immunized and take preventative measures for Lyme's disease and Heartworm. Our Rainy River area is a hot zone for these parasitic diseases and the fungal disease blastomycosis.
