Have a few young horses! Located south of Calgary Alberta.

1. 2019 16.1 hh grey Hanoverian gelding. Bloodlines: Diacontinus x Escudo I. S only. Work in progress! Is slowly being restarted now, has gone to shows in the past (up to .90m) schooled 1.15m at home, free jumped 1.25m just pulled out of the field. Needs a patient rider, he’s sweet on the ground, likes to work, just opinionated about how fast he should go undersaddle. Asking low 5s (starting with a 1).

2. 2021 15.1 hh chestnut Canadian Sport Horse mare. Bloodlines: Quabri de I’ilse x Lupicor. S only. Nice jump, smooth movement. Hasn’t jumped undersaddle yet, getting the flatwork consistent first. Has been free jumped and showed good form. Could go hunter or jumper, based on movement and form over fences. Low 5s (starting with a 2).

3. 2022 16 hh grey Hanoverian mare. Bloodlines: Diacontinus x Acquit (Eurocommerce Singapore). Expected height of 16.2hh (late maturing line). Just getting started undersaddle. Has been free jumped, and showed amazing potential. Great form, calm personality, lovely movement. Low 5s (starting with a 2, until fully undersaddle!).

4. 2022 15.3 hh grey Hanoverian mare. Bloodlines: Nairobi de Muze x Cassini II. Expected height of 16.2hh. S only. Classic movement, good form over free jumping fences. Just getting started undersaddle. Low 5s (starting with a 2, until fully going undersaddle).

5. 2022 15.1 hh bay Canadian Warmblood. Bloodlines: Bel Air NV x Balou du Rouet. Expected height of 15.3 hh. S only. Will be getting free jumping video in the next few weeks. Getting started undersaddle now. Low 5s (starting with a 1). Clean vetting from November of 2024.

6. 2023 15.2 hh black Canadian Sport horse mare. Bloodlines: Olympic van’t Koningsbos x Three Cups Apple Jack. Expected height of 16.2 hh. S only. Already shows an amazing calm brain, will be free jumped in the next few weeks, shows hunter movement. Low 5s (starting with a 2).

This 4 year old mare is so lovely šŸ’– I’m 12 weeks postpartum, haven’t really jumped a course since October of last year, and she’s just trying hard and having fun. Could go to a jr/am in a program and develop into an exceptional partner!!!

Couldn't have said it better ourselves! We carefully select stallions to complement our mares and develop them according to THEIR character, physical development and long term goals. We don't rush, we don't push, and 'strangely' each one runs to the gate eager to come in and work after they have had long breaks being silly young horses with their herds!

Just a little heads up if you are looking at our horses… we do NOT overproduce our young horses. So when you ask for videos, do not expect to see them trotting like Valegro and jumping like Explosion at 3/4…

I can see what a horse will be in the future from how they walk, canter and how naturally athletic they are over their first little fences. A fancy trot doesn’t impress me. Athleticism isn’t about hitting the sky and throwing their back legs almost over their head. You can engineer that. Natural athleticism is how light they are over the ground, how they eye up a fence and how they get from one side to the other whilst being respectful of a pole. Yes they need to have a good technique but they don’t need to be looping the loop. Horses that explode over a small fence every time are going to be very hard on themselves physically.

We are producing quality, well bred young horses with longevity in mind. We aren’t trying to win 3 or 4yo classes - in my opinion they prove nothing about the horse’s future prospects, all you do is shorten that horse’s career. Darc Maxim was the most unimpressive 3yo loose jumper 🤣 and was ā€œniceā€ but not flash as a 4yo. Yet she went on to win the 7yo championship, Foxhunter second round and many other big classes across the country.

Our 4yos will politely WTC, know what a contact is, hack out and pop a few small fences. That’s it. We don’t expect them to do any more! All our 4yo fillies are done and back in the field after doing 8-10weeks work this year, most of that consisting of hacking. The geldings have come in now for their turn. We play the long game and take our time because the horses always come first.

So if you need to see a horse throwing big shapes round a course of fences - we are probably not for you. But if you can see a quality, raw young horse - Or you can trust us to show you one if you can’t, drop us a line!

Our Story

Nordic Farms breeds warmbloods for hunter jumper disciplines, provides horse training and rider coaching and offers boarding for horses of all ages. Nordic Farms is a family operation with Maren Reinbold responsible for the development of the young horses and training horses and coaching riders of all levels. Maren herself has competed up to 1.50m FEI level in Canada, and 1.40m - 1.45m in Canada, the US, the Netherlands and Germany. She was a resident rider for two training stables in the Netherlands and in Germany (2012, 2014) and was the only Canadian to be selected by the Hannoveraner Verband to be an exchange rider (2016). As an exchange rider she received daily coaching in the development of young jumpers and dressage horses, theory lessons in the German method for developing young horses, lectures on bloodlines, anatomy and marketing. She worked at the stallion licensing and auctions and continues to receive support from the Verband in her endeavours. Maren actively competes in hunters, jumpers and dressage and loves taking the horses cross-country schooling and on hunts. Maren holds a Certificate in Equine Science and a Diploma in Equine Science from the University of Guelph and current first-aid and Equine First Aid certification.

We offer highly competitive boarding rates for both indoor and outdoor boarded horses. We offer training and lesson programs in private or semi-private sessions. Our brand new facility has a total of 24 stalls, multiple day paddocks and fields (all with auto-waterers), summer pastures, a 100 x 180 indoor arena with state-of-the-art geo-textile footing and a 90 x 200 outdoor arena. We also have gallops tracks, hills for stamina work and a large field for outriding. The horses receive individualized care and attention and a nutrition program tailored to their needs. We’d be happy to discuss boarding and training options with you at any time!

Maren enjoys teaching and builds on her experience as a young rider (first lesson was at age 3 in NSW) in Canada combined with in depth instruction as a working student/rider in the Netherlands and twice in Germany. She can draw on the different approaches and techniques to offer the rider and the horse a training program that draws on the best approach for that situation. As a working student she rode up to 10 horses a day, received dressage lessons and had many opportunities to compete on a variety of horses - giving her an expansive array of skills that she incorporates into her training and coaching programs. Come out and give a lesson a try!

Our breeding program is built on a commitment to proven bloodlines in sport. Maren’s tenure at the Hannoveraner Verband and time spent competing in young horse classes in Schleswig-Holstein and the Netherlands have given her an excellent insight into breeding and performance requirements. Our filly, Cordelia NF was awarded the Jumper Champion Foal for the Canadian Hanoverian Society in 2017. We are committed to responsible breeding and all of our mares have been inspected by their respective stud books (KWPN, Oldenburg, Hannoveraner) and we have hosted both Oldenburg and Hannoveraner inspections. We are always happy to have breeding discussions with other interested breeders in the area.
