The continuous integrity of knowing our selves - inside out- helps us hold a deep healing space for others - thanx for your wise words Equine Reflections
As I describe in my book, The Horse Leads the Way, some of the cornerstones I feel are essential in delivering equine-facilitated interactions are being aware of our False/Conditioned-Self; Shame-Awareness, and the ability to REALLY Hold Space for others.
As the human facilitators of this work it is vital that we can monitor and continuously work on these parts of ourselves and these behaviours, as well as practicing holding space with patience and empathy. Just like the horses do so well...
As Brené Brown says: "If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive."
It it this quality of space we need to create and hold for our clients to gently unravel their feelings in a positive and healing way.
