The nice weather is finally here, but so are the bugs!

Before you start your pet's monthly internal parasite prevention, it is important to schedule their 4Dx blood screen first.

Why is this test a must-have?

Screens for Heartworm: Testing ensures your pet is negative before starting preventatives, which keeps them safe from dangerous medication reactions.
Detects Tick-Borne Diseases: It screens for Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichiosis.
Early Detection: Catching these hidden infections early means faster, easier treatment for your pets.

Also, we've partnered with IDEXX Laboratories to offer some great deals on wellness testing - ask us for more details!

Call us today (705-835-7005) to book your pet's quick screening and stock up on their monthly preventatives.
Don't wait for the bugs to bite!

What's the breed Wednesday? Meet the Himalayan
Ninety percent fluff, one hundred percent gorgeous.
Fun fact: Himalayan cats aren’t from the Himalayas. They get their name because their beautiful color-pointed coats look just like Himalayan rabbits.
As a mix of Persian and Siamese breeds, they give you the ultimate combo of total fluff and piercing blue eyes.
Could you handle the daily brushing routine for a face this sweet?

Fun Facts: Queen Victoria was a passionate animal lover whose patronage significantly advanced the animal welfare movement in 19th-century Britain. In 1840, she granted a royal charter to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, officially renaming it the RSPCA. This endorsement transformed animal welfare from a fringe cause into a socially respectable movement.
Similarly, Queen Victoria popularized keeping domesticated animals strictly as companions. Her public devotion to her own dogs, such as her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dash, helped shift public perception to view pets as family members deserving of care.

QUICK REMINDER:
Keep Your Pets Safe This Victoria Day Weekend!
While we enjoy the long weekend celebrations, the loud bangs and bright flashes of fireworks can be terrifying for our pets.
More animals panic and run away during fireworks than at any other time of the year.
Please take a few quick steps to protect your furry family members: Bring them inside: Keep all pets indoors with doors and windows securely locked well before sunset.
Mask the noise: Close the blinds and turn on a TV, radio, or fan to help drown out the booming sounds.
Check their ID: Double-check that collar tags and microchip info are completely up to date.
Leave them home: Never bring your pets to community fireworks displays or leave them alone in cars.
Let's keep the weekend happy and stress-free for the whole family!

What's the breed Wednesday?
As a nod to the upcoming Victoria Day holiday, we’d like to introduce one of the many breeds made famous by Queen Victoria herself! The Pomeranian
Did you know this tiny, fluffy powerhouse was once a much larger working dog? It was the British monarch's love for these dogs that helped popularize the smaller "toy" size we adore today.
Pomeranians might be small, but they have the heart of a lion - bold, lively, and incredibly smart. These highly adaptable, loyal pups are excellent for apartment living or life on the go. Alert and vocal, they will always let you know when a guest arrives. They are eager to please and make wonderful companions.

What's the breed Wednesday: The Ocicat!
All the Spots, None of the Wild
If you’re looking for a cat that looks like it stepped straight out of a jungle documentary but has the temperament of a dedicated companion, meet the Ocicat.

What makes them stand out from the crowd?

100% Domestic: Despite the name and the striking spots, they have zero wild DNA. They are a clever mix of Abyssinian, Siamese, and American Shorthair.

Active Intelligence: They are highly interactive and thrive on "mental jobs." If you don’t give them a puzzle or a game, they’ll likely find their own—usually involving opening a cabinet you thought was secure.

Stunning Athleticism: These aren't just "lap ornaments." They are muscular, agile, and love to survey their kingdom from the highest point in the room.

The Ocicat is perfect for someone who wants a bold, beautiful, and deeply engaged feline presence in their home.

What's the breed Wednesday? Meet the Leonberger!
Combining the presence of a guardian with the temperament of a companion, the Leonberger is a fascinating breed.
Originating from Leonberg, Germany, in the mid-1800s, they were intentionally bred to resemble lions, resulting in their signature thick manes and striking black masks.
Beyond their regal appearance, they are remarkably versatile athletes; their webbed feet make them powerful swimmers, and they have a historical reputation for everything from farm work to water rescue.
Unlike many other giant breeds that can be more stoic or independent, Leonbergers are deeply family-oriented and thrive on human interaction. They are famous for the "Leo Lean," where they press their weight against your legs just to stay close. While they do require significant grooming and plenty of space, their calm, patient nature makes them one of the most approachable giants in the canine world.
