🎃 Keeping Our Furry Friends Safe This Halloween! 🐾

Halloween can be a treat for us, but it can quickly turn into a trick for our pets! With extra visitors, spooky costumes, and tempting treats around, here are a few simple tips to keep your dog or cat safe and stress-free this spooky season:

🍫 1. Keep the Candy Out of Reach
No Chocolate or Xylitol: Chocolate, raisin treats, and artificially sweetened candies (containing xylitol) are toxic to dogs and cats. Keep trick-or-treat bowls up high!

Watch Out for Wrappers: Foil and plastic wrappers can cause intestinal blockages if swallowed.

🚪 2. Create a Safe & Quiet Space
Avoid Door-Dashing: Constant doorbell rings and door opening can scare pets and increase the risk of them running outside. Keep them in a quiet, cozy room away from the front entry.

Microchips & IDs Updated: Make sure your pet's ID tag and microchip contact details are up to date just in case they manage to sneak past the door!

🎃 3. Be Mindful of Decor
Candle Safety: Ditch real candles inside jack-o'-lanterns for LED flameless tea lights to avoid accidental tail-singes or fire hazards.

Wires & Electric Cords: Keep decorative lights and wires taped down or kept away from curious chewers.

🐶 4. Practice Costume Comfort
Check the Fit: If dressing up your pet, ensure the outfit doesn't restrict their vision, breathing, movement, or hearing.

No Swallowed Hazards: Look out for loose beads, snaps, or strings that could be chewed off and swallowed.

Know Their Limits: If your pet shows signs of stress or discomfort, skip the costume—they're already adorable as they are!

Keep Your Furry Family Members Safe This Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is all about family, feast, and gratitude—but while we’re enjoying the holiday, it’s important to make sure our pets stay safe and comfortable. Here are a few quick tips to protect your dogs and cats this season:

**Watch the Feast:** Keep turkey bones, skin, gravy, onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, and desserts containing chocolate or xylitol far out of paw’s reach. High-fat foods can cause severe stomach upset or pancreatitis.

**Secure the Trash:** Turkey carcasses, string, and food wrappers smell delicious to pets but can lead to dangerous blockages or choking. Secure lids tight or empty trash cans frequently!

**Safe Treat Alternatives:** Want to include them in the meal? Offer a small bite of plain, fully cooked, skinless turkey breast, or plain pumpkin puree (not pie filling!).

**Mind the Front Door:** With guests coming and going, quick escapes happen easily. Keep collar tags on and make sure microchip info is up to date.

**Create a Safe Zone:** The hustle and bustle can be overwhelming. Set up a quiet room with their bed, water, and favorite toys so they can retreat if they get stressed.
