Today marks 2 years since we officially opened Starlight Acres✨.
What an incredible two years it has been.
They say owning a farm comes with challenges, and it certainly didn't ease us into it. Our first two winters turned out to be some of the harshest in 20–30 years. We battled ice storms, flooding, endless snow, below -30 temperatures and weather that tested us in every possible way.
There were days that felt overwhelming, but giving up was never an option.
Instead, we kept building.
In just two short years, we've transformed this property in ways we could only dream of when we first opened. We've completed extensive drainage improvements, built new paddocks and shelters, raised the barn floor, had automatic waterers professionally installed, added new hay feeders, created gravel pathways, built a hay shelter, outdoor cross-ties, a round pen, expanded our outdoor arena, created a small cross-country course through our trails, and built our Bullpen—a place where our barn family can gather, relax, and make memories. And that's only scratching the surface.
Every improvement has been made with one goal in mind: creating the best possible home for our horses and an incredible place for the people who love them.
To our amazing boarders… thank you. ❤️ Your trust, kindness, and unwavering support have allowed us to continue growing and chasing this dream. We truly wouldn't be where we are today without each and every one of you, and we are so grateful you've chosen Starlight Acres to call home.
We are incredibly proud of how far we've come in just two years, but we're even more excited about what's ahead. We have so many exciting projects planned, and we can't wait to share them with all of you.
Here's to looking forward to Year 3… bigger dreams, more improvements, and making even more memories together.
Thank you for being part of our journey. 🌟🐴

Yesterday we said goodbye to our sweet Little Bee.
Although she was only with us for a short time, she touched so many hearts. She was sweet, sassy, almost always had a face covered in her food, and quickly made herself right at home. She made wonderful friends here, especially my mare, Blondie, who became her very best friend.
Tori took Little Bee out of a difficult situation and, after loving her for so long, officially made her own last October. She made her final chapter of life be one filled with love, comfort, and kindness.
Watching the bond between Little Bee and Tori, and seeing how gentle and loving she was with C**t, was something truly special. She was deeply loved, and she knew it.
Run free, sweet Little Bee. Thank you for blessing Starlight Acres with your gentle spirit. You may have only been here for a short while, but you’ll forever be a part of our story.
Until we meet again. ❤️🐝

This farm has slowly become the place I always hoped it would be 🤍✨
I love the quiet moments most…boarders sitting in the paddocks with their horses, or hanging out together with a drink and a few shared snacks. These moments are always welcome here. Bring a book. Bring a camping chair. Stay a while.
This isn’t meant to be just a place to arrive, work your horse and leave. It’s meant to be a safe, gentle space for both horse and rider. A second home where time softens and the outside world feels a little farther away.
A barn isn’t just where your horse is kept… it’s where your peace finds you too 🤍.

❤️

🐴 Owning a horse isn’t always calming.
Sometimes it’s simply… draining.

Winter has a way of stripping away the glossy daydreams ❄️
Daylight disappears, mud multiplies, water freezes, and nothing ever dries.
Every task takes longer, costs more energy, and gives very little back.

What once felt like an escape can start to feel like another demand.

Some days, the yard doesn’t soothe your nervous system — it overwhelms it.
Cold air. Darkness. Noise. Smells. Endless micro-decisions.
What rug? What feed? Are their feet okay? Did you check the weather again?
Hurry and you feel guilty. Slow down and you feel guilty anyway.

Horses don’t adjust their needs to match your capacity.
They still rely on consistency, even when your tank is empty.

This side of horse ownership rarely makes it into highlight reels.

Caring deeply for a horse doesn’t mean every visit feels restorative 🤍
There are days it’s labour. Heavy, physical, unromantic work.
Days it feels like pressure instead of peace.
Days it feels like pushing yourself through thick mud — inside and out.

None of that makes you ungrateful.
It doesn’t mean you chose wrong.
It means winter carries weight.

The comfort horses offer isn’t constant serenity.
It lives in the act of turning up when it’s hard.
In the small, quiet moments that exist alongside exhaustion, not after it disappears.

If winter has you doubting yourself, you’re not falling short 🌧️
You’re just navigating a season where endurance matters more than joy.

And seasons do change 🌼🌸🌻
