We were down to just one available recipient mare, so we welcomed a few new girls to the farm!

Meet the new additions!

Sage- a super sweet 6yo palomino QH, suitable for our smaller donors.

Sally - another very sweet big bodied palomino QH, suitable for both our Warmblood and QH donors! Sally has only been here a few weeks and is booked already. Cross fingers she gets a baby this week!

Hannah- another QH recip, 8yo. Previously broke to ride and drive but an accident shortened her performance horse career! She’s a smaller mare but has a big body and will likely be able to carry a wide variety of foals.

Linden- Linden is joining our Warmblood group. She’s 3yo and over 16hh and growing like a w**d! We will likely keep her as a back up this year and she can have her first baby after she’s filled in about more.

Zara- our flashiest addition! Zara is a coming 2yo daughter of Sage. We look forward to watching her grow up this year and getting her started as a recip next spring!

With these extra mares, we can probably book 1, maybe 2 more donors! Message us if interested!

It wouldn’t be one of my horses if it didn’t give everyone a bit of a hard time..
If you don’t know how breeding AI with frozen semen works- there is a very small window to successfully breed the mare. Typically they are ultrasounded frequently and given medications to help predict ovulation and time the breeding.
Dori did her own thing and didn’t respond to the medications as she should have.
Dr. Dobson ended up losing a week of sleep checking her around the clock and we just prayed she would eventually get with the program 🥴
But alls well that ends well- with a healthy little black dot after her first try with frozen!

Every positive preg check is a good one, but we especially love checking our embryo recips in foal!!

This embryo was transferred on Monday from a 28 year old donor, and is developing just as expected!

We have some big, big news!!

Dr. Taylor Ross is joining our team of veterinarians, starting mid-June!

Dr. Ross will be taking on a mix of farm calls, in-clinic care, and reproductive cases primarily from our Elm Creek location.

This means a few things for you:

1) We are accepting more mares and stallions for reproductive services!

2) Nobody is leaving! Dr. Kirstie Oswald and Dr. Gillian Dobson both have appointments available in both practice areas, and Dr. Chantel Dunlop is providing services at our Oakbank clinic, East region farm calls and regulatory work at ASD. Talk about the dream team!
