Here is the details for the upcoming poker ride!

This will be held on Saturday, September 27 with registration opening up at 11am and trails open at 11:30am. This will be open to all ages.

Preregistration is required so please email [email protected] to get in!

Members can bring 1 guest with a signed waiver.

Non-members can join this by obtaining a membership to the RES. An individual membership is $20 and a family membership is $30 for the whole year! Please reach out to [email protected] to get your membership!

It’s that time of year again folks to kick off our giving back and this year we have chosen, Haying in the 30’s to help!

This wonderful charity helps those battling Cancer financially (bills, groceries etc) from all over Alberta. They are 100% volunteer based & 100% of all money raised goes to patients!!!

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁
Effective May 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

In compliance with Thorhild County Emergency Services Bylaw 12-2023, Section 26, the Fire Ban has been downgraded to a Fire Advisory and is hereby enacted for the municipality of Thorhild County until further notice.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
• All open fires necessitating a permit under Bylaw 12-2023

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
• Backyard fire pits in compliance with Bylaw 12-2023, Subsection 14(b)
• Wood campfires in designated public campgrounds
• Burn barrels and incinerators adhering to Bylaw 12-2023, Subsection 14(c)
• Use of CSA-approved propane and charcoal-fueled devices
• Open flame oil devices (e.g., tiki torches, deep fryers)
• CSA-approved electrical cooking and heating devices
• Safe wood campfires on public lands
• Discharge of fireworks with readily available fire suppression equipment
• Use of exploding targets with readily available fire suppression equipment
• Operation of off-highway vehicles on public lands equipped with spark arresters

While fire risk conditions have improved, the threat of wildfire remains. Thorhild County will continue to reassess the risk and may elevate back to a Fire Ban should conditions warrant.

Thorhild County strongly advises all residents to exercise extreme caution when conducting any hot work (such as gas torch operations, grinding, cutting, etc.) or driving in grassy areas. Be alert to hot exhaust and maintain vehicles in a clean condition to prevent smoldering debris from causing fires. Ensure a suitable means of extinguishment (e.g., water, fire extinguisher, fire blanket) is readily accessible.

From disaster to evacuation brings new life. This mare was evacuated to our farm Wednesday night from the Redwater fire. Saturday morning between the hours of 3:00 and 4:00 am this young c**t was born. Both momma and c**t are doing fantastic.

This is not our horse and when the owner has a name we will update everyone.
