As people count off the days until Christmas, a friendly reminder that pets should never be a christmas gift. They are a very expensive, very time consuming gift that many unfortunately do rehome for a variety of reasons.

Even if you know your friend/family member really wants to get a puppy/kitten it is best to instead:
-Offer to pay an adoption fee.
-Give a gift card to a pet store to purchase supplies or puppy classes.
-Donate to an animal rescue in their honor.

We unfortunately see so many animals needing to be rehomed up to a year down the road who were Christmas presents that ended up just being too much. Especially puppies as the cute pup is no longer cute but an 80-130+ vacuum that takes human bowling to a new level. And you don't know what the landlord or condo policy is either. We have many adoptions fall through because the landlord says no and they didn't know. Allergies is another big one, people can react differently to different animals. Even you always planned on getting your kids at home a puppy/kitten wait until after Christmas when it is less stressful. Your kids would love to be apart of the puppy/kitten choosing process and can help strengthen the bond.

UPDATE: we finally have secured Willow and she is in a great foster home. She will go to the vet as she has ear infections and has noticeable vision issues which we feel has caused much of she bitting incidents. This is sad that it wasn’t noticed before. We will keep you updated as we received much concern for her. We hope to have her up for adoption within a month after she is properly vetted and accessed. Thank you all for your support.

URGENT!!! URGENT!!!!! URGENT!!!
Willow needs your help!!! She was booked in to be euthanized when we were called. A date already booked at the vet. What happened to bring this dog to this point? We are told she bit 2 people over this past year (no skin broken). Yet for 5 yrs prior she never bit and was in household with kids with no incidents. It was out on walks that the incidents happened. We have offered free training and support to the owners but they still don’t want to keep her. Willow is now 6 yrs old and in DESPERATE NEED OF A FOSTER. We are looking for maybe the impossible but we have to try. We can’t let this girl down like everyone else has. Please help Willow. A trainer is in touch with the owners and continued support with a certified trainer will be in place for the foster home along with the boards support. We have no facility to place Willow we need a foster who sees the value in real rescue. WILLOW NEEDS YOU!!!! Foster needed in Okotoks or Calgary area please.
